The MAN TGE Next Level has been named “Sustainable Van of the Year 2026” in the van category, recognising the light commercial vehicle’s improvements in safety, driver comfort, and operational efficiency. The award is presented by Italian publishing house Vado e Torno Edizioni, which evaluates commercial vehicles based on their contribution to sustainable transport solutions.
According to the judging panel, sustainability in the van sector extends beyond the powertrain. The jury highlighted that improving driver wellbeing, enhancing safety systems, and increasing operational efficiency all play a role in reducing environmental and operational impacts for fleets.
“Next Level” upgrade introduces new electronic architecture
The award-winning model is part of the MAN TGE “Next Level” range, which refers to vehicles from the 2025 model year onwards. This update introduced a completely redesigned electronic architecture, integrating new control units, sensors and cameras throughout the vehicle.
These upgrades enable a new generation of driver assistance systems and expanded safety technology. For fleet operators, the improvements are aimed at reducing accident risk, supporting drivers during long shifts, and improving the overall efficiency of delivery and service operations.
Expanded driver assistance systems
A key factor in the award was the expanded suite of advanced driver assistance systems. The TGE Next Level introduces several new features including:
- Blind Spot Warning
- Drive Off Warning
- Turning Assist
- Cruise Assist and Cruise Assist Plus
These systems complement an already extensive list of standard safety technologies.
High level of standard safety
Every MAN TGE Next Level now comes with a broad range of standard driver assistance features designed to improve road safety and driver awareness, including:
- Fatigue Detection
- Traffic Sign Information
- Intelligent Speed Assist
- Emergency Brake Assist
- Active Lane Guard System
- Cruise Control
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
- Parking Assist
Together, these systems aim to elevate the active safety of MAN’s transporter range while helping operators reduce downtime and accident-related costs.
Improved driver workplace
MAN has also focused on improving the driver environment. The updated TGE includes a digital instrument cluster, a central MAN Media Van touchscreen display, and a multifunction steering wheel. The redesigned dashboard creates more cabin space and improves ergonomics for drivers who spend long hours behind the wheel.
A broader view of sustainability
The STY jury emphasised that sustainability in commercial vehicles should consider the entire operating environment — including safety, productivity, and driver wellbeing.
By focusing on these areas, the MAN TGE Next Level demonstrates how improvements in technology, ergonomics and safety can contribute to more sustainable fleet operations.
For fleet operators and van buyers, the award highlights how light commercial vehicles are evolving beyond simple transport tools to become connected, safety-focused work platforms designed for modern urban logistics.
- New RAV4 design sharpens its stance while keeping the practical DNA fleets rely on
The sixth-generation Toyota RAV4 introduces a more assertive exterior design that reflects changing buyer expectations in the medium SUV segment. While the previous generation established the RAV4 as a dependable fleet workhorse, the new model aims to balance rugged capability with a more modern, technology-focused appearance. The result is not a radical departure, but a deliberate evolution. - The $50K Electric Van That Breaks the WOLC Model
Whole-of-Life Cost (WOLC) has always been the discipline that separates fleet procurement from private buying decisions. It forces Fleet Managers to look beyond the purchase price and consider fuel, maintenance, utilisation, resale value and risk. But in 2026, the WOLC conversation has changed. NVES regulations, rising diesel prices, and the introduction of emissions reporting requirements - Fleet Vehicle Awards: Recognising the Vehicles That Deliver Real Value for Fleets
Fleet News Group has officially launched the Fleet Vehicle Awards, a new national program designed to recognise the vehicles that deliver the best value to Australian fleet buyers. These awards focus on what matters most to organisations managing vehicles every day — cost, capability, safety, sustainability, and long-term support. Rather than relying on popularity or marketing - Fuel Prices Are Reshaping Fleet Decisions Faster Than Policy
For years, government incentives and emissions targets have dominated the conversation about electric vehicles (EVs). Policies such as tax exemptions and vehicle efficiency standards were expected to drive adoption across fleets and the broader market. But recent developments in the used vehicle sector suggest a different force is accelerating change—fuel prices. As operating costs rise, - Surge in EV Demand Creates Opportunity for Fleets to Stay with Kia
A sharp increase in electric vehicle demand is reshaping fleet purchasing decisions across Australia, creating an opportunity for organisations already operating internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid vehicles from Kia to transition to electric models without changing suppliers. The shift has been particularly noticeable in recent months, with manufacturers reporting a rapid change in customer
