Honda Australia has added a new range-topping variant to its popular HR-V small SUV range, introducing the sporty e:HEV RS as part of the 2026 model line-up.
The new HR-V e:HEV RS arrives after a strong sales performance for the model, with Honda reporting a 44 per cent increase in HR-V sales during 2025. The addition expands the line-up to four grades, with three now powered by Honda’s e:HEV hybrid system.
The move also reinforces Honda Australia’s broader electrification strategy as the brand continues to increase the proportion of hybrid vehicles across its range.
Robert Thorp, Director of Automotive at Honda Australia, said the new flagship variant builds on the momentum generated by the HR-V over the past 12 months.
“2025 was a great year for HR-V with sales increasing 44%. With the arrival of an additional hybrid grade, the range-topping e:HEV RS, we’re confident HR-V will connect with even more drivers in 2026,” said Thorp.
“The introduction of the RS is another example of Honda’s focus on hybrid following the expansion of CR-V and Honda ZR-V hybrid ranges. We anticipate by the end of this year, more than 80% of Honda sales will be hybrid.”
Sportier Styling for the New Flagship
The HR-V e:HEV RS introduces a number of styling upgrades designed to differentiate it from the existing e:HEV X and e:HEV L variants.
Exterior enhancements include a unique Bernina Black RS grille, black lower bumper garnish, black door lower garnish, Bernina Black mirror caps and 18-inch alloy wheels. The RS badge also features prominently throughout the vehicle.
Honda says the sporty treatment extends to both the interior and exterior, giving the small SUV a more dynamic appearance while retaining the practicality that has made the HR-V popular with urban drivers.
The new RS grade will be available in six colours, including Crystal Black, which returns exclusively for the flagship model. Other colours include Platinum White, Premium White Silver, Slate Grey, Premium Crystal Red and Botanical Green.
Hybrid Range Continues to Grow
The 2026 HR-V range starts with the petrol-powered VTi X and is complemented by three hybrid variants using Honda’s 1.5-litre engine and two-motor e:HEV hybrid system.

Customers who continue servicing through Honda dealerships can also access additional warranty and roadside assistance benefits through the Honda Extend program.
For fleet and novated lease buyers, the expanded hybrid range provides another low-emission option in the highly competitive small SUV segment, while the addition of the RS grade gives drivers seeking a more distinctive appearance the opportunity to combine hybrid efficiency with sportier styling.
