Chery Australia has confirmed its 2025 Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 SUVs have achieved five-star safety ratings from ANCAP SAFETY, covering both petrol and Super Hybrid variants .
Under ANCAP’s latest testing protocols, both models delivered consistent results across the four key assessment areas:
- Adult Occupant Protection: 82 per cent
- Child Occupant Protection: 86 per cent
- Vulnerable Road User Protection: 80 per cent
- Safety Assist: 82 per cent
ANCAP said the results highlight that safety performance has been maintained across different powertrains within the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 ranges.
“The availability of safe alternate-powered SUVs continues to expand, with testing confirming all Chery Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 plug-in hybrid variants hold five-star ANCAP safety ratings, alongside their petrol counterparts,” said Carla Hoorweg, Chief Executive Officer at ANCAP SAFETY .
“With these ratings, Chery has demonstrated high levels of vehicle safety performance, regardless of powertrain.”
From a fleet and business perspective, the result provides reassurance that organisations considering petrol or electrified variants within the same model line are not trading safety for efficiency or technology.
Chery Australia Chief Operating Officer Lucas Harris said the ratings reinforce the brand’s local focus on safety outcomes.
“We are delighted to receive the prestigious 5-star ANCAP safety rating for the 2025 Tiggo 7 and 8 models,” Harris said. “This acknowledgement highlights our steadfast dedication to delivering vehicles that adhere to the most stringent safety standards, offering assurance and peace of mind to our customers” .
The Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 ranges include Chery’s Super Hybrid technology, which combines electric driving capability with a petrol engine to support extended driving range and flexibility. The system is designed to operate across electric, hybrid and petrol modes depending on driving conditions, with a focus on real-world efficiency rather than pure laboratory performance.
For fleet buyers, the five-star ANCAP rating across all powertrains simplifies procurement decisions, particularly for organisations balancing safety requirements, emissions objectives and whole-of-life cost considerations within medium SUV segments
