mycar has announced a new partnership with Australian-owned vehicle importer EVDirect.com.au that will see the leading auto service provider deliver and servicevehicles from one of the world’s largest EV manufacturers, BYD, to Australian customers nationwide. The new agreement between mycar and e-commerce group EVDirect.com.au will see BYD electric vehicles delivered directly to customers via the existing 275-strong mycar network of service centres across Australia.
Importantly, EVDirect.com.au customers will engage with the BYD brand via mycar stores. EVs will be delivered to owners by mycar. In addition, select mycar service centres will feature purpose-built bays for electric vehicles to be serviced by its specially trained technicians.
From December 2021, mycar began delivering BYD vehicles to customers via eight selected mycar locations, with mass delivery to take place from 30 locations across its national network by post-March 2022. Order fulfilment for the BYD e6 people mover will start immediately as vehicles begin to arrive in Australia.
Technicians at mycar are being trained in how to service BYD vehicles, with designated bays in key mycar stores allocated for its customer delivery and EV service activities.
Commenting on the new partnership with EVDirect.com.au, Adam Pay, Managing Director of mycar, said: “This is an exciting moment of growth for mycar as a leading brand in Australia’s vehicle sector. Our partnership with EVDirect.com.au sees us not only expand our expertise into the growing electric vehicle space but gives our team the opportunity to leverage our exceptional customer service into a new realm, delivering new car owners a frictionless, transparent, and engaging experience that our existing customers have come to expect from us.”
This partnership is a milestone for mycar, signifying an expansion of services for the brand into electric vehicle technologies and direct-to-consumer car delivery. EVDirect.com.au also plans to expand imported EV brand marques from overseas manufacturers beyond BYD, with mycar to serve as a key partner as more brand partnerships are agreed.
Speaking about the launch of the partnership, EVDirect.com.au’s Managing Director, Luke Todd said: “Much has been said about how EVs will be serviced once they become mainstream. EVDirect.com.au’s relationship with mycar provides the best possible solution.”
“The partnership makes sense for us and enables EVs to be rolled out in large volumes nationally. With mycar’s scale as a national car-care brand being synonymous with exceptional customer service, our long-term agreement ensures our EV owners will have peace of mind that all their car-care needs will be well met,” he said.
“Growth in demand for EV vehicles is something to be really excited about. We are receiving daily enquiries from Australians about our EVs, which will be offered at price parity to cars with internal combustion engines. By August 2023, we will offer six BYD models through our unique e-commerce platform. We greatly look forward to expanding and strengthening our relationship with mycar in the years to come,” Mr Todd concluded.
