MG Motor has confirmed pricing and specifications for its all-new MGU9 ute, marking the brand’s bold entry into one of Australia’s most competitive vehicle segments.
Three trims will be offered — Explore, Explore X, and Explore Pro — with pricing expected between $55,000 and $65,000 AUD. New Zealand buyers can expect a range of $65,000 to $75,000 NZD.
According to MG Motor Business Director Kevin Gannon, the lineup was designed to balance practicality with innovation:
“With the MGU9 range – Explore, Explore X and Explore Pro – we’ve created a vehicle lineup that combines comfort, capability, and innovation in equal measure. From daily commercial use to family weekends or off-road adventures, the MGU9 proves Australians no longer have to choose between practicality and innovation when looking for their next ute.”
Cabin Comfort Meets Practicality
Inside, MG has gone beyond the rugged workhorse approach by giving the MGU9 a premium SUV-inspired cabin. Highlights include:
- MultiFold Seating: Rear seats upholstered in vegan leather that fold completely flat, allowing a cabin-to-tub pass-through via MG’s optional Smart Hatch.
- Smart Hatch (Pro variant option): A fully retractable rear cabin window that increases loading flexibility.
- Driver-Centric Design: Aircraft-inspired gear selector, horizontal infotainment layout with voice commands, and intuitive dashboard.
- Storage Solutions: Up to 32 smart storage compartments, hidden cup holders, and a sliding console.
Designed for Australian Conditions
Benchmarked for local roads, the MGU9 blends off-road toughness with SUV-style refinement. MG promises the ute will suit worksites, rural trips, and city use in equal measure.
The MGU9 arrives as MG celebrates nearly a decade in the Australian market. After establishing itself with high-selling hatchbacks and SUVs, and recent success with the electric MG4 and new hybrid models, the brand is now targeting fleets and private buyers who need the flexibility of a ute without sacrificing comfort.
