Ford Australia has officially revealed pricing and specifications for the all-new Ranger Super Duty, a purpose-built cab-chassis range that is set to redefine expectations for work-ready utilities in the Australian market. Designed for the toughest jobs and heaviest loads, the Ranger Super Duty is already generating strong interest from fleet buyers in construction, mining, agriculture and emergency services.
With a factory-engineered Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 4,500kg and class-leading towing and payload figures, this model marks a significant evolution in Ford’s line-up. It brings full-size truck performance into a mid-size footprint—direct from the dealership floor.
Pricing and Variants
Available in three body styles, the Ranger Super Duty Cab-Chassis range is priced from:
Variant | Manufacturer List Price (incl. GST) |
---|---|
Single Cab-Chassis | $82,990 |
Super Cab-Chassis | $86,490 |
Double Cab-Chassis | $89,990 |
These prices exclude trays and on-road costs, with tray options offered as dealer-fit accessories.
Engine and Performance
Powering the Super Duty is Ford’s 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine, delivering:
- 154kW at 3,250 rpm
- 600Nm at just 1,750 rpm
This version of the engine includes a new AdBlue emissions system to meet EUVI standards while retaining its full torque output. It also benefits from a 25 percent more efficient cooling system, designed for performance at maximum GVM and GCM.
Payload and Towing Capacity
The Ranger Super Duty is engineered to move serious weight, with capabilities including:
- Maximum braked towing capacity: 4,500kg
- Gross Combined Mass (GCM): 8,000kg
- Payload capacity:
- Single Cab: up to 1,982kg
- Super Cab: up to 1,896kg
- Double Cab: up to 1,825kg
Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWR) are equally impressive, rated at 1,900kg for the front axle and 2,800kg for the rear.
Off-Road Capability
Despite its workhorse credentials, the Ranger Super Duty remains highly capable off-road. Across the range, buyers will get:
- Ground clearance: up to 299mm
- Track width: 1,710mm
- Water wading depth: 850mm
All variants include factory-fitted front and rear differential locks, a sealed snorkel, upgraded suspension and reinforced chassis components to support demanding terrain.

Fleet Impact
The introduction of the Ranger Super Duty marks a shift in the cab-chassis utility segment by offering 4,500kg GVM and 8,000kg GCM directly from the factory — previously only achievable through aftermarket upgrades. For many fleet buyers, this reduces the complexity of sourcing modified vehicles while improving confidence in compliance, performance, and warranty support.
Importantly, CoR (Chain of Responsibility) obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law apply only to vehicles with a GVM greater than 4.5 tonnes. While the Ranger Super Duty is right on the threshold, it is not classified as a heavy vehicle for the purposes of CoR. However, businesses operating close to or at GVM limits still need to monitor driver licensing, load restraint, and maintenance closely to meet general duty-of-care obligations under workplace safety laws.
