Chery Australia has announced a new partnership with Koala Conservation Australia (KCA), strengthening its commitment to environmental sustainability and supporting the protection of one of Australia’s most vulnerable native species. The initiative pairs one of the country’s fastest-growing automotive brands with a respected conservation organisation working to safeguard wild koalas and their habitats.
As part of the agreement, Chery will loan KCA a Tiggo 4 Hybrid to support day-to-day rescue, rehabilitation, and habitat-management activities across regional New South Wales. The brand will also contribute $10 from every vehicle sold over the next three months, with funds directed to critical conservation projects focused on koala welfare, habitat restoration, scientific research, and community education.
Lucas Harris, Chief Operating Officer at Chery Australia, said the collaboration reflects the company’s broader sustainability goals.
“Chery is deeply committed to making a positive impact that extends beyond mobility,” he said. “We’re inspired by the meaningful work Koala Conservation Australia is doing to protect and restore the populations of Australia’s beloved koalas. Together, we’re helping safeguard this iconic species and ensuring future generations can continue to experience the beauty of our natural environment.”
KCA Chair Sue Ashton welcomed the partnership and highlighted the urgency of conservation efforts.
“It’s an honour to partner with Chery. Both our organisations are committed to innovation and making worthwhile and sustainable contributions to our environment,” she said.
Ashton emphasised the significance of KCA’s world-first koala breeding program, which aims to return healthy koalas to the wild. Without initiatives like this, she noted, koalas in New South Wales are predicted to be extinct by 2050.
“Our partnership with Chery is a major contributor towards educating the community about koalas and investing in research to improve their clinical care,” she said.
The collaboration aligns with Chery’s push toward greener mobility through hybrid technology and low-emission vehicles. By supporting KCA’s conservation programs, the brand extends its environmental focus beyond product development to tangible on-the-ground impact.
Chery continues its rapid growth in Australia, ranking among the top 10 best-selling automotive brands nationally. The partnership underscores the company’s intention to play a constructive role in the communities where it operates.
