Mazda Australia has announced the winner of the 2025 MazTech National Final, recognising the highest-performing Mazda Master Technician within its national dealer network.
Held in early December at Mazda Australia’s Head Office, the MazTech National Final brought together the eight State Champions from across the country, following a series of state-based competitions conducted throughout the year. The program forms part of Mazda’s long-running global initiative to strengthen technical capability and professional development within its service network.
A benchmark for technical capability
Established by Mazda Corporation in the early 2000s, MazTech has become a cornerstone of the brand’s technical excellence framework. The competition is open exclusively to qualified Mazda Master Technicians who have completed the Mazda Masters Technical Training Program.
Beyond recognising individual performance, Mazda uses the results of the competition to assess technical competency levels across the dealer network. Insights from the event directly inform future training priorities, helping ensure technicians are equipped to support increasingly complex vehicle systems, including advanced electronics and driver assistance technologies.
Real-world diagnostic challenges
Finalists faced a full day of intensive diagnostic testing designed to reflect real customer scenarios. Competitors rotated through eight technical stations, each presenting advanced fault-finding and repair challenges.
Scenarios included a Mazda BT-50 that would not start, replicating the effects of a lightning strike, and a Mazda CX-30 presenting multiple driver-side electrical faults, a condition often associated with post-impact repairs. These tasks were designed to test problem-solving ability, technical knowledge and diagnostic efficiency under pressure.
2025 MazTech National Final results
After a highly competitive contest, Robin Styles from Osborne Park Mazda in Western Australia was crowned the 2025 MazTech National Champion, achieving a back-to-back national win.
Second place was awarded to Andrew Dilley from Ringwood Mazda, with Jamieson Galbraith from Aspley Mazdafinishing third. Both Dilley and Galbraith are graduates of the Mazda Australia Apprentice Program, highlighting the effectiveness of Mazda’s internal training and development pathways.
Notably, three of the eight National Finalists this year progressed through Mazda Australia’s Apprentice Program, reinforcing the role of structured apprenticeships in building long-term technical capability across the dealer network.
Why it matters for fleet customers
For Fleet Managers and Procurement Managers, technician capability plays a critical role in vehicle uptime, diagnostic accuracy and whole-of-life costs. Programs such as MazTech provide visibility into the depth of technical expertise within a brand’s service network, particularly as vehicles become more software-driven and electrically complex.
Mazda Australia congratulated all finalists on their performance, acknowledging the high level of skill and professionalism demonstrated across the competition and their ongoing contribution to customer service nationwide.
