At the fourth annual Geotab Innovation Awards, industry leaders from around the world were recognised for redefining what excellence looks like in fleet management.
Opening the ceremony, Derek Luke, Chief Operating Officer at Geotab, welcomed guests and reflected on the collective impact of this year’s winners.
“We’re here to celebrate the leaders transforming fleet management and setting new benchmarks in data-driven performance and excellence,” Luke said. “Collectively, they have driven over 35 million safer miles, over $90 million in cost savings and avoided 8 million pounds of CO₂ emissions.”
Geotab Founder and CEO Neil Cawse reinforced the broader significance of the awards.
“All of us have something to learn from each of the customers receiving the awards today,” Cawse said. “They’re all making a significant impact, driving business and strengthening their local communities through their work.”
Cawse also announced a new charitable initiative aligned with Geotab’s 25th anniversary. Commercial sector winners will receive a $2,500 donation to a charity of their choice, while Geotab is donating $20,000 to the Hourglass Foundation on behalf of all public sector winners.

The 2026 Geotab Innovation Awards highlighted the expanding role of telematics, AI and data analytics in delivering measurable outcomes — from safer drivers and reduced emissions to lower operating costs and improved service performance. As the industry continues to evolve, this year’s winners provide a clear benchmark for what data-driven fleet excellence can achieve.
- Blacktown City Council Finds $7 Million Opportunity Hidden in Fleet Data
For years, Fleet Managers have been told that telematics generates valuable data. The challenge has never been collecting information—it has been turning that information into better decisions. At the 2026 AfMA Fleet Summit, Blacktown City Council shared how it used telematics data and operational engagement to uncover significant opportunities to improve fleet efficiency, reduce costs, - From Paper to Portal: Why Digitising Incident Reporting Changes Behaviour
In many fleets, incident reporting remains one of the least modernised processes in an otherwise technology-enabled operation. Paper forms, email trails and spreadsheets are still used to record vehicle damage and accidents. While familiar, these methods introduce friction, inconsistency and data gaps that undermine cost control and risk management. According to Shaun Janks, Co-Founder and Chief - BYD Says Fleet Is a Long-Term Play, But Is It Ready for the Challenge?
When BYD executives declared at the launch of the Shark 6 Cab Chassis that fleet would be a major growth area for the brand, it raised an obvious question among fleet buyers: is this a genuine long-term commitment, or simply the next stage of a rapid sales growth strategy?
