MG Motor Australia has confirmed the return of the naturally aspirated MG ZS 1.5L Vibe for the 2026 model year, reinstating the petrol-powered variant as the entry point to the ZS compact SUV range.
The MY26 ZS Vibe is positioned as a simplified specification within the broader ZS line-up, aimed at buyers seeking a conventional internal combustion option as the model range continues to expand into hybrid and electric powertrains.
MG says the ZS Vibe has been configured to prioritise core safety and usability features rather than additional technology or performance enhancements. The vehicle is fitted with the MG Pilot safety suite, including Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, along with a reverse camera and a far-side airbag. The safety package is intended to support a five-star ANCAP rating.
Inside, the ZS Vibe features a 10.25-inch central touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Exterior equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels and halogen headlights with LED daytime running lights.
Kevin Gannon said the model remains relevant for buyers who prefer a straightforward petrol SUV.
“MG ZS Vibe is about making life simple,” Gannon said. “It’s a car designed for people who want great value, modern technology and five-star safety peace of mind, without overcomplicating things.”
The petrol ZS Vibe returns as MG continues to broaden its ZS offering, which now includes hybrid variants under the HYBRID+ nameplate. The expanded range allows customers to select between traditional petrol and electrified drivetrains based on budget, driving patterns and operational requirements.
The ZS has been a consistent presence in Australia’s light SUV segment in recent years, where affordability and basic functionality remain key considerations for many private and fleet buyers. The reintroduction of the petrol Vibe variant provides an option for those not yet ready to transition to hybrid or electric alternatives.
