BYD has delivered its 150,000th vehicle in Australia, marking another milestone in its expansion as the brand builds a broader sales and service network across regional and rural communities.
The milestone comes after BYD entered the Australian market in late 2022. Its Australian range now spans battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, giving fleet buyers an expanding choice of passenger cars, SUVs and utes.
Regional support takes priority
BYD Australia Chief Operating Officer Stephen Collins said recently appointed regional and rural dealers were playing an important role in the brand’s growth.
“The vast majority of recently opened BYD sales and service dealerships have been outside of the metro area, deep into regions serving wide communities,” Collins said.
“That emphasis will continue for the remainder of the year and well into 2027 as we continue to build a dealer network that helps serve Australians wherever they live.”
Locations identified in the expansion include Noosaville and Mareeba in Queensland, Mudgee in New South Wales, Seymour in Victoria, the Barossa in South Australia and Rockingham in Western Australia.
Milestone delivery in south-west Victoria
The 150,000th vehicle was a SEAL 6 Touring, delivered through BYD Warrnambool to a young family in Portland on Victoria’s south-west coast.
It was the family’s second BYD purchase within weeks, with customer Tiffany choosing the Touring after her partner took delivery of a SEAL Performance sedan.
“The styling of the Seal 6 Touring really appeals to me. We have a young family and the practicality and low-running costs it offers made it an easy decision,” Tiffany said.
Collins said the delivery reflected the breadth of the brand’s offering across plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles.
“We’re so glad our 150,000th delivery is to someone like Tiffany and her young family. It means we are on the right track with what we’re offering Australian customers,” he said.
What it means for fleet buyers
The delivery milestone demonstrates BYD’s growing presence on Australian roads, while its dealership expansion addresses a practical consideration for fleets evaluating an additional vehicle supplier.
A broader range creates more opportunities to match vehicles to different tasks. A wider service network can also make the brand more accessible to organisations operating beyond metropolitan areas.
