Toyota Fleet Management has been named Fleet Supplier of the Year in the 2026 Fleet News Group Awards, following an industry vote by fleet professionals across Australia and New Zealand.
The award is particularly significant because the organisations competing for Fleet Supplier of the Year did not simply put themselves forward. Finalists were nominated by their customers or business partners, providing an endorsement from the organisations and people that experience their service firsthand.
After the finalists and their nomination case studies were presented to the fleet community, the winner was decided through open industry voting.
And in 2026, the fleet community chose Toyota Fleet Management (TFM).
Customer relationships at the centre
TFM’s nomination highlighted an approach built around knowledgeable and accessible people, long-term relationships and a focus on customer outcomes rather than individual transactions.
Its offering spans fleet finance, fleet management, vehicle procurement and salary packaging, giving customers access to a broad range of services while maintaining a clear point of accountability.
During the awards process, TFM also highlighted the importance of maintaining relationships beyond the initial vehicle or finance transaction, with regular customer reviews, performance monitoring and a focus on identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Fiona Deal, Head of Fleet Sales Enablement at Toyota Fleet Management, explained that this combination of services and long-term customer relationships is an important part of the organisation’s approach to fleet management.
The business continues to invest in technology, data, mobility and sustainability as fleet customers face increasingly complex decisions about vehicle selection, operating costs and the transition to lower-emission vehicles.
Helping fleets navigate electrification
One area that stood out during the awards process was TFM’s approach to helping customers navigate electrification and the expanding range of powertrain choices available to fleets.
Rather than treating electrification as a simple vehicle replacement exercise, TFM considers factors including total cost of ownership, charging requirements, driver suitability, operating patterns, emissions objectives and change management.
It reflects a broader shift occurring across fleet management, where organisations need advice that considers how a vehicle will actually operate rather than simply which technology is newest.
For customers considering battery electric, hybrid and other lower-emission vehicles, that means matching the technology to the application and understanding the operational and financial implications before making the transition.
Recognition from the fleet community
Fleet News Group Editor Marc Sibbald said the Supplier of the Year category was designed to recognise suppliers through the eyes of their customers and the broader fleet industry.
“What makes this award different is that the finalists were put forward by customers or partners who believed they deserved recognition,” Sibbald said.
“Toyota Fleet Management’s nomination highlighted the importance of knowledgeable people, strong customer relationships and practical fleet advice.
“We also saw during the awards process how TFM is helping customers work through electrification without assuming there is one solution for every fleet. It’s about understanding the operation, looking at the data and helping the customer select the technology that is right for the job.”
The Fleet Supplier of the Year category recognises the importance of service, reliability, customer support, value and an understanding of fleet requirements.
With the finalists selected following the nomination and evaluation process, the final decision was handed to the industry. Fleet professionals across Australia and New Zealand were invited to read the nomination case studies and vote for the supplier they believed deserved the title.
That makes the 2026 result a direct endorsement from the fleet community.
Congratulations to Toyota Fleet Management – the 2026 Fleet News Group Fleet Supplier of the Year.
