HERE Technologies has partnered with Octave to improve incident response across Australia, integrating its mapping and location services into Octave’s OnCall Dispatch platform.
The partnership aims to help dispatchers locate incidents, identify available service vehicles and coordinate assistance using more current road network and traffic information.
For fleet managers supporting incident response operations, the integration highlights the importance of accurate location data in getting vehicles to the right place quickly and safely.
Better information for dispatch decisions
OnCall Dispatch is a computer-aided dispatch system used to manage incident response operations. Its map provides a central interface for locating incidents, monitoring available vehicles and coordinating their deployment.
The integration brings HERE’s search, geocoding, routing and mapping capabilities into the platform. Geocoding converts addresses into geographic locations, helping dispatchers identify where assistance is required.
Current and predictive traffic conditions can also inform routing decisions, helping operators assess how vehicles should reach an incident and when they are likely to arrive.
“For any type of incident response, every second counts,” said Daniel Antonello, General Manager for Oceania at HERE Technologies.
“By bringing our real-time, highly accurate location intelligence into OnCall Dispatch, we are transforming how incidents are identified and responded to. This helps to reduce response times, improve driver safety and enable more efficient operations at scale.”
Keeping maps current
The partnership also aims to reduce the work involved in maintaining mapping information.
HERE provides ongoing updates to road networks, addresses and points of interest, allowing incident response providers to access current location information without manually maintaining their maps.
For operational fleets, outdated mapping can complicate dispatch decisions. A vehicle’s location is only part of the picture: dispatchers also need reliable information about the destination, available routes and traffic conditions.
Integrating these inputs into the dispatch platform can support more informed decisions about which vehicle to send and how it should get there.
“We’re excited to partner with HERE to offer even more to our OnCall customers,” said Chris Leaver, Executive Director of Australia and New Zealand at Octave.
“Access to continuously updated, high-quality mapping and routing data provides organizations with increased operational visibility and precision. This translates into faster decisions, more accurate ETAs and, ultimately, a better experience for dispatchers.”
What it means for fleet managers
For fleets where response time is a key service measure, the partnership demonstrates how location technology can support daily operations beyond basic vehicle tracking.
Connecting vehicle availability with incident locations and traffic information gives dispatch teams a more complete view of the task ahead. It can also help fleet managers assess how routing and dispatch systems contribute to service delivery.
