Nissan has confirmed key Australian specifications for the new-generation Y63 Patrol, with the large SUV gaining a new twin-turbo V6, increased towing capacity, a revised chassis and a broader six-grade line-up.
The new Patrol will arrive in Australia in early 2027, replacing the long-serving Y62 and introducing significant changes to the powertrain, suspension, cabin technology and towing equipment.
Every variant will be powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 producing 317kW and 700Nm, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. That represents an increase of 19kW and 140Nm compared with the outgoing Patrol.
Braked towing capacity increases to a maximum 3,700kg when fitted with a Genuine Nissan towbar, subject to vehicle mass and towing equipment limitations. Trailer blind-spot warning will also be standard across the range.
Patrol gets a major mechanical overhaul
The Y63 is built on a new ladder-frame chassis that Nissan says delivers 40 per cent more torsional rigidity than the previous model.
Independent multi-link suspension continues, while electric power steering is introduced across the range. Higher grades add electronically controlled damping, with the PRO-4X and Ti-L Reserve receiving Adaptive Air Suspension.
The air suspension can raise the Patrol when travelling off-road and lower the vehicle when parked to improve passenger access and cargo loading. At highway speeds it automatically lowers above 90km/h before returning to its normal height below 70km/h.
All models retain full-time four-wheel drive, with high and low range, an electronic locking rear differential and eight drive and terrain modes.
PRO-4X joins Australian Patrol range
For the first time, Nissan will offer the Patrol PRO-4X in Australia.
The off-road-focused model is based on Ti-L specification and adds Adaptive Air Suspension, all-terrain tyres, 20-inch wheels and a revised front bumper designed to improve the approach angle.
It also includes equipment likely to appeal to towing users, including trailer docking support and an integrated electric trailer brake controller.
The broader Australian range will include Ti, Ti+, Ti-L, Ti-L+, PRO-4X and Ti-L Reserve.
More driver and cabin technology
Technology has also been updated substantially compared with the outgoing Patrol.
Ti and Ti+ models receive dual 12.3-inch displays, while Ti-L and higher grades move to dual 14.3-inch screens.
Google built-in and Google Gemini AI are standard across the range through NissanConnect, making the Patrol the first Nissan offered in Australia with the technology.
ProPILOT is standard from the entry Ti, along with an Intelligent Around View Monitor featuring an “invisible hood” view designed to show the terrain directly beneath the front of the vehicle.
Three-row seating for up to eight occupants remains part of the Patrol package, while higher grades add features including heated and ventilated seats, head-up display, upgraded audio and massage functions.
