Australian crash management technology company DingGo has partnered with Carbar Australia to provide instant repair estimates when customers return vehicles, aiming to shorten assessment times and reduce disputes over damage costs.
The partnership brings DingGo’s AI-powered Crash Intelligence platform into Carbar’s vehicle returns process. Using a handful of photographs, the technology generates an independent repair estimate that staff can discuss with customers before they leave.
For rental and subscription operators, this could replace a wait of days or longer while a repairer prepares a quote, helping resolve damage questions while the vehicle and customer are still on site.
“Damage at vehicle return has always been a sensitive conversation, and the longer it takes to price, the harder that conversation becomes,” said Desmond Hang, CEO and Co-founder of Carbar Australia.
“By partnering with DingGo, we can streamline the process, and our team can show customers an independent repair estimate before they leave, so everyone is working from the same fair, transparent number.”
Australian repair data underpins estimates
DingGo says Crash Intelligence draws exclusively on its proprietary dataset of hundreds of thousands of data points collected across thousands of completed Australian repairs.
The platform calculates estimates using actual historical repair costs. According to DingGo, it delivers approximately 90% or greater accuracy for common damage found at vehicle return, including dents, scratches, scuffs and minor collision damage.
The company says each new repair managed through the platform feeds back into the system, improving accuracy and expanding its coverage.
For fleet operators, the practical benefit is earlier visibility of potential repair costs. Providing an estimate at return also gives staff and customers a common starting point for discussing damage, rather than leaving the cost unresolved until a quote arrives.
Faster answers at a sensitive moment
The platform integrates into Carbar’s existing returns process without requiring new systems or specialist training, according to DingGo.
Shaun Janks, Co-founder and CEO of DingGo, said the partnership focused on an important point in the rental and subscription customer experience.
“We understand that vehicle returns are one of the most important moments in the customer journey for rental and subscription providers, and our Crash Intelligence platform supports this with a fast, independent answer on repair costs when damage is found, helping both sides move forward with confidence and clarity.”
The Carbar agreement extends DingGo’s reach beyond fleet management and insurance into rental and subscription services. The company also supplies tailored rental products to customers including Sixt, Hertz and Turo, and has launched Motor Claim Pro for third-party motor claims specialists.
