Suzuki has fuelled speculation about a possible new Jimny variant after images surfaced online appearing to show a mysterious yellow version of the popular off-roader roaming the Australian outback.
The images, reportedly captured by an unknown photographer and shared online, reveal a blurry yellow vehicle that appears to be unmistakably a Suzuki Jimny. The sighting has sparked rumours of a previously unseen model that some enthusiasts are already referring to as the “Yellow Rhino”.
While excitement has quickly spread through the Jimny community, Suzuki Australia is remaining cautious about confirming the vehicle’s existence.
According to Michael Pachota, General Manager – Automobile at Suzuki Australia, the available evidence is far from conclusive.
“The Jimny community in Australia is thriving so yes, news of any new Jimny is hugely exciting. But these are very capable, off-road vehicles. They navigate effortlessly in these outback conditions. The chances of someone getting close enough to take better images is low,” said Pachota.
The teaser campaign appears designed to build anticipation around a potential future announcement, although Suzuki is offering little detail about what the vehicle might be or whether additional examples exist.
Questions remain about where the vehicle originated, what modifications or unique features it may have, and whether the “Yellow Rhino” name has any official connection to Suzuki’s plans.
Suzuki is encouraging enthusiasts and amateur “Jimnologists” to continue sharing any sightings or evidence that could shed more light on the mystery.
“We’d obviously love to announce a completely new Jimny, particularly one that, if the reports are accurate, seems to be the perfect manifestation of the shared spirit of two magnificent beasts: Jimnys and rhinos. But we can’t confirm anything at this stage,” Pachota said.
The comments are likely to further intensify speculation among Jimny fans, many of whom have embraced special editions and unique variants of the compact four-wheel drive since its Australian resurgence.
Whether the elusive Yellow Rhino proves to be a new special edition, an off-road-focused variant, or simply a clever marketing teaser remains to be seen. For now, Suzuki is keeping the details under wraps while the Jimny rumour mill continues to gather momentum.
