Mercedes-Benz Vans has introduced a limited-edition Vito Crew Cab as it reflects on 130 years of commercial vehicle development and 30 years since the Vito was launched globally.
The company traces its van history to 1896, when Carl Benz developed what Mercedes-Benz describes as the world’s first motorised work van, a decade after inventing the automobile.
Since then, its commercial vehicles have been used across delivery, construction, government, emergency services, rental and trade applications.
Mercedes-Benz Vans entered the Australian market in 1998 and now offers a commercial range that includes the midsize Vito and large Sprinter.
The Vito is available as a Panel Van, Crew Cab and Tourer, while the Sprinter range includes Panel Van, Cab Chassis and Transfer Bus configurations. Battery-electric eVito and eSprinter models are also available.
Limited-edition Vito gains more power
The Vito Crew Cab 30th Anniversary Edition will introduce a more powerful drivetrain to the Australian Vito range.
It uses the 2.0-litre diesel engine from the Mercedes-Benz V-Class people mover, producing 174kW and 500Nm.
Mercedes-Benz says the output makes it the most powerful midsize crew cab van in its class, based on the VFACTS 2.5- to 3.5-tonne van and cab chassis segment in May 2026.
The model combines seating for five occupants with approximately 3.6 cubic metres of cargo capacity, making it suitable for businesses that need to transport workers, equipment and materials in the same vehicle.
The Vito has been used across trade, roadside assistance, service and urban delivery operations, including applications with Australia Post and DHL.
Additional equipment and exterior changes
The limited-edition model is finished in Alpine Grey and features 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails, an exterior Sports Package and anniversary decals.
Standard equipment includes MULTIBEAM LED headlights, electrically operated sliding doors on both sides and an electric tailgate.
Inside, the Vito receives heated and electrically adjustable front seats with memory settings, wireless phone charging and black leatherette upholstery.
Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia Managing Director Diane Tarr said the model recognised the Vito’s history while reflecting the company’s focus on supporting Australian operators.
“For many years, we have applied our expertise, innovation and experience to help businesses keep moving in Australia, adapting our products to stay ahead of our customers’ evolving needs,” Tarr said.
The Vito Crew Cab 30th Anniversary Edition will be produced in limited numbers for Australia.
Mercedes-Benz Vans has also introduced temporary savings on selected Vito and Sprinter models as part of its broader anniversary activity, with the campaign scheduled to run until September 30, 2026, subject to availability and eligibility conditions.
