The new Honda HR-V arrived in Australian dealerships this month, now cheaper than ever with a starting price of $34,900 driveaway for the base petrol model.
Honda offers three versions of the new HR-V, including a new hybrid grade e:HEV X which will sit in between the Vi X petrol and top of the range e:HEV L.
The petrol variant (Vi X) features a 1.5-litre VTEC engine producing 89kW/145Nm and the hybrid variants (e:HEV X & e:HEV L) both sport a dual-motor hybrid system with a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine producing a combined 96kW/253Nm.
New to the lineup, the mid-range e:HEV X is priced from $39,990 drive-away and offers comparative features to its petrol-only stablemate while scoring the same hybrid system as the top-spec model.
The range-topping e:HEV L is now priced from $42,990 drive-away, which is nearly $5,000 less than the outgoing model’s sticker price as Honda continues to bring the price of its hybrid models down.
Honda says the new HR-V e:HEV features improved hybrid Power Control Unit (PCU) software compared to its predecessor, with optimised mode switching algorithms for more seamless transitions between EV and hybrid modes, in addition to improving EV throttle response.
“The launch of the new HR-V to the Australian market includes the long-awaited arrival of a new hybrid grade,” said Honda Australia Vice President and Director, Carolyn McMahon.
“The expansion of our hybrid options has been a hot topic for some time, and we are very excited to be able to extend this new e:HEV X to our already popular hybrid offering across the Honda range.”
Each grade features advanced driving and safety features including low speed braking control, traffic jam assist and the hybrid models also score adaptive driving beam headlights.
Honda offers a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and five-years of roadside assistance for all new HR-V models.
