Foton Australia has confirmed its Tunland V7 and V9 Utes will arrive in Australia in the first half of 2025, offering full-size pick-up options likely to be priced well below US models like the Ford F-150 and RAM 1500 – which the Chinese-made utes bear a striking resemblance to.
Local distributor Inchscape, which also distributes Subaru in Australia, says the Foton ute lineup will cater to a range of customers but has not yet shared local pricing or specification details.
It is believed the V7 and V9 utes will feature the same 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine as they do in overseas markets, producing 120kW/450Nm. A Chinese market PHEV option that produces a more stout 284kW is also a possibility.
From Q4 this year the brand’s Aumark S light-duty truck range will also arrive in Australia, offering a commercial vehicle option that will compete with established brands like Isuzu Trucks, Hino and Fuso.
“We are excited to introduce Foton’s innovative commercial vehicles to Australians, beginning with the Aumark S,” said Inchcape Australasia Managing Director of Distribution, Blair Read.
“We look forward to then expanding the Foton range in 2025 with the launch of the Tunland V7 and V9 ute, as we continue to grow Foton’s dependable and value-driven mobility solutions that help enhance the operations of Australian businesses and support the adventurous lifestyles of Australian consumers.”
Further details, including specification and pricing, will be announced in due course.
