BYD Australia has strengthened its commitment to Australia’s growing electric vehicle market by appointing Pickles as its sole auction partner under a new three-year agreement.
The partnership will see Pickles manage the national remarketing and auction sales of BYD’s company fleet vehicles, providing a structured pathway for vehicles entering the second-hand market and supporting greater access to affordable used EVs.
The announcement reflects the rapid evolution of Australia’s used EV sector, with increasing buyer confidence, improved understanding of electric vehicle ownership, and a growing appetite for lower-priced electric vehicles.
Chris Shaw, General Manager, Motor Vehicles at Pickles, said the agreement represents an important milestone for both organisations and the wider automotive industry.
“This is a significant partnership for Pickles and a strong signal about the continued evolution of the Australian EV market.”
Shaw said the used EV market continues to mature as pricing becomes more accessible and buyers become more familiar with electric vehicles.
“We’re seeing increasing confidence in used electric vehicles from both private buyers and the trade as the market develops, pricing becomes more accessible, and understanding of EV ownership continues to improve.”
He added that Pickles’ investment in EV handling expertise, battery health assessment capabilities and digital auction platforms positions the company to support the next phase of growth in Australia’s secondary EV market.
For fleet managers, the announcement highlights the increasing maturity of the used EV ecosystem. Strong remarketing channels are becoming an important consideration when evaluating whole-of-life costs and residual values for electric vehicles.
BYD Australia Chief Operating Officer Stephen Collins said the partnership supports the long-term development of Australia’s EV market.
“As the Australian EV market continues to expand, establishing strong and trusted remarketing pathways becomes increasingly important.”
Collins said Pickles’ national reach and operational capability made it a strategic partner for the brand.
“This partnership will help support a healthy and transparent secondary market for electric vehicles, which is an important part of broader EV adoption and consumer confidence.”
The agreement also reinforces Pickles’ position as one of Australia’s leading used EV marketplaces, with ongoing investment in battery health assessment processes and broader market education initiatives.
