Ram Trucks Australia has added a new entry point to its updated MY26 Ram 1500 range, with the Express Black Edition due in local showrooms from June 2026.
Priced from $109,950 plus on-road costs, the Ram 1500 Express Black Edition becomes the most affordable model in the updated MY26 Ram 1500 line-up and gives buyers a lower-cost pathway into a full-size US pick-up.
For fleets, trades and towing-focused buyers looking beyond the traditional dual-cab ute segment, the new model narrows the price gap between premium mid-size utes and larger American pick-ups.
Ram Trucks Australia says the Ram 1500 has been Australia’s top-selling US pick-up for the past eight years in a row, based on VFACTS data from 2018 to 2025.
The Express Black Edition keeps the full-size Ram formula, but adds a darker exterior package that includes a ‘power bulge’ Sports Hood, black grille, black badging, black mirror caps, black door handles, black exhaust tips, black side steps and black 20-inch wheels.
It also includes body-coloured bumpers, spray-in bed liner, damped tailgate, passenger-side kick-down bed step, tinted rear windows, LED headlights and fog lights, and a power-operated sliding rear window.
Inside, the Express Black Edition gets cloth trim, black interior highlights, a large centre console with internal sliding tray, an 8.4-inch infotainment screen, 7.0-inch digital instrument display, six-speaker audio, wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, sensor key with push-button start and remote engine start.
Under the bonnet is Ram’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo in-line six-cylinder ‘Hurricane’ petrol engine, producing 313kW and 635Nm. It is matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission and part-time four-wheel drive.
The Hurricane engine produces more power and torque than the previous 5.7-litre V8 Hemi, which delivered 291kW and 556Nm, while Ram says the new engine is also more efficient.
Jeff Barber, General Manager, Ram Trucks Australia, said the new variant was designed to make the updated Ram 1500 range more accessible.
“The Ram 1500 Express Black Edition brings a new entry price to the updated MY26 Ram 1500 Series,” said Barber.
“With the Ram 1500 Express Black Edition we have reduced the price gap between mid-size utes and our full-size Ram 1500 range.
“The Ram 1500 Express Black Edition delivers the benefits of a US pick-up in terms of size, space, comfort and capability – at an attainable price point.”
Barber said the styling package was also responding to customer demand.
“In addition, the Ram 1500 Express Black Edition has many of the styling upgrades from our flagship models – such as the Sports Hood and black highlights,” he said.
“Our customers have been asking for a package like this and we’re pleased to be able to deliver it.”
For towing and payload, the Express Black Edition has a 4500kg towing capacity when using a 70mm tow ball, or 3500kg with a 50mm tow ball. Payload is listed at 1014kg, with a maximum combined tub and towball load of 520kg.
The Gross Vehicle Mass is 3505kg and Gross Combination Mass is 7711kg. It also comes with a 98-litre fuel tank.
Safety and driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision alert with autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, rear-view camera and trailer brake control.
Available colours include Diamond Black, Granite Crystal, Silver Zynith, Bright White, Molten Red and Forged Blue, with metallic paint adding $950.
The current MY26 Ram Trucks Australia line-up starts with the Ram 1500 Express Black Edition at $109,950 plus on-road costs. The Ram 1500 Rebel and Ram 1500 Laramie Sport are both priced from $141,950, while the Ram 1500 Limited is priced from $159,950.
The heavier-duty Ram 2500 HD Laramie is priced from $172,950 and the Ram 3500 HD Laramie from $177,950.
For buyers who need more space, more towing capacity and more road presence than a mid-size ute can offer, the Express Black Edition gives Ram a sharper opening price in a market where full-size pick-ups continue to carve out a place with private buyers, business owners and fleets with serious towing requirements.
