National Windscreens Group (NWG) has entered the Tasmanian market with the acquisition of Action Auto Glass in Burnie and Devonport, along with Action Auto Sliders in Queensland.
For fleet operators, the move expands NWG’s national footprint and provides improved access to repair and replacement services in Tasmania — a critical factor in reducing downtime when vehicles suffer glass damage.
Action Auto Glass, established in 1985 and owned by Rose and Paul Kemp since 2006, has grown to a team of 25 and is the repairer of choice for major insurers and fleet customers. The business also services trucks, coaches and heavy equipment, making it relevant for mixed fleets.
NWG CEO Campbell Jones described the business as “pound for pound the most impressive auto glass business I have seen in Australia” and confirmed investment will be made to expand technical capability, particularly in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration — now essential for modern fleet safety and compliance.
Rose Kemp said the transition was about finding the right custodian: “We are now thrilled to pass the torch to NWG, a company that shares our values of family, integrity and exceptional customer service.” The Kemps will remain in the business to support the handover.
For fleets, NWG’s expansion means more consistent service across states, access to ADAS calibration expertise, and support for heavy vehicles. With Action Auto Sliders also part of the deal, procurement managers may benefit from integrated solutions for customised light commercial vehicles.
