Kia’s all-new Seltos will arrive in Australian showrooms this month with a hybrid-only line-up, a larger footprint and the brand’s first electric all-wheel-drive system for a hybrid model in Australia.
The new generation brings a significant change to the Seltos range, with every variant featuring a 1.6-litre hybrid powertrain paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
For fleet buyers, the move adds another SUV option for introducing electrified vehicles without requiring workplace or home charging infrastructure.
Hybrid across every grade
The new Seltos retains Kia’s familiar S, Sport, Sport+ and GT-Line grade structure, with an S Safety Pack variant also available.
Front-wheel drive is offered across the range, while buyers can select Kia’s new e-AWD technology in the flagship GT-Line AWD.
The introduction of electric all-wheel drive broadens the range of configurations available to fleet buyers. Its suitability for specific duties will need to be assessed once Kia releases detailed Australian specifications.
Larger footprint and bolder design
Redesigned from the ground up, the Seltos features a larger footprint, a more purposeful stance and bolder exterior styling, according to Kia.
For fleet managers, the practical implications of the redesign will be as relevant as its appearance. Cabin space, cargo capacity, visibility and ease of access will be key considerations when assessing the vehicle for pool fleets or employee transport.
Safety equipment will shape fleet selection
Kia says the new Seltos will offer an extensive suite of advanced safety and driver assistance features.
The inclusion of an S Safety Pack variant makes the equipment differences between grades particularly relevant for fleet procurement teams. Buyers will need to confirm which systems are standard and which require a higher specification to meet internal vehicle policies.
That assessment will help determine the most appropriate grade for each organisation’s operating requirements.
Another option for fleet electrification
The hybrid-only Seltos gives organisations another vehicle to consider as part of their fleet transition planning, particularly where access to charging remains a constraint.
Fuel consumption, servicing requirements and operational suitability will be central to the whole-of-life cost assessment once the full specifications are available.
The range starts at $39,990 drive-away. Kia says further local specification details will be released soon.
