It does seem impossible that the internal combustion engine will not be available for fleets or novated leases. But governments around the world are making policy that will see the demise of petrol and diesel vehicles in my lifetime.
In Australia businesses, government and rental purchase 50% of new cars sold so fleet and novated lease drivers will be the early adopters as vehicle manufacturers around the world adapt to the new world of electric and fuel cell vehicles.
The Australia government has yet to announce any targets for the sale of EVs but there has been a discussion paper on the implementation of increased taxes for high emission vehicles which vehicle manufacturers (via the FCAI) have been challenging in the media
Many state and local governments are making changes to their fleet policies before any legislation forces the change. And vehicles are the easiest way to reduce overall government emissions and achieve ambitious targets such as zero emissions, or a carbon neutral businesses.
Based on the list below it won’t be long below the Australian Federal Government announces the of petrol and diesel vehicles in Australia.
