The new Peugeot 408 GT Premium Fastback Hybrid is now available for pre-order and the model will arrive in Australia from Q1 next year, priced from $57,990 plus on-road costs.
Available in a single 48-volt hybrid variant, the model undercuts its PHEV predecessor with the outgoing 408 GT Fastback Plug-in Hybrid priced from $67,990.
The new model will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 100kW/230Nm, accompanied by an electric motor producing an additional 15kW/51Nm.
According to Peugeot, the new hybrid system is capable of returning combined fuel use of just 4.7l/100km and CO2 emissions of 107g/km.
The Australian specification is well appointed, with interior features like wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, and a premium 10-speaker FOCAL sound system. A sunroof also comes as standard on the new model.
The exterior design is sleek and attractive, as was the case with the outgoing model, riding on 19-inch wheels with a choice of five colours; Okenite White (standard), Selenium Grey ($690), Nera Black ($690), Obsession Blue ($690) and Elixir Red ($1050).
“The Peugeot 408 GT Premium Fastback Hybrid represents a great opportunity for Aussie motorists — combining hybrid technology with the bold design and driving pleasure that our customers expect,” said Peugeot Australia General Manager, David Owen.
