Foton Australia has officially revealed specifications and pricing for the all-new Foton Tunland Hybrid, a bold new entrant into the Australian ute market that blends commercial-grade toughness with SUV-like comfort.
A New Contender in the Ute Segment
Launching in Q3 2025, the Tunland Hybrid is designed to sit between traditional dual-cab utes and full-size pick-ups. Priced from $39,990 (MLP), it combines Foton’s global truck-building expertise with features tuned for Australian drivers.
Under the bonnet sits a 2.0-litre Aucan turbo-diesel with 48V mild-hybrid technology, matched to a smooth ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers 120kW/450Nm and a braked towing capacity of 3,500kg, making it a capable workhorse for both fleets and lifestyle buyers.
Model Line-Up
The Tunland range will be available in four configurations, each offering increasing levels of capability and comfort:
- V7-C 4×2 – entry-level workhorse for fleets and trades, over 1,000kg payload.
- V7-C 4×4 – adds part-time 4WD, differential lock and extra drive modes for versatility.
- V9-L 4×4 – multi-link rear suspension, sports bar, heated seats, and enhanced comfort features.
- V9-S 4×4 – flagship model with front & rear diff locks, panoramic sunroof, facial recognition, and premium cabin upgrades.

- V7-C 4×2 – $39,990
- V7-C 4×4 – $42,990
- V9-L 4×4 – $45,990

Built for Australian Conditions
The Tunland has been locally tested across tens of thousands of kilometres on sealed roads, unsealed tracks, steep climbs, and sandy conditions to ensure it meets the demands of Australian worksites and recreation. With 240mm ground clearance, 28° approach and 26° departure angles, plus a 700mm wading depth, it’s equipped to tackle tough terrain.
Payload capacity ranges up to 1,089kg, depending on variant, and all models come with a spray-in tub liner as standard.
Technology and Safety
Even the entry-level V7-C 4×2 is loaded with advanced driver assistance, including:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Autonomous Emergency Braking (with pedestrian & cyclist detection)
- Blind Spot Detection
- Lane Keep Assist and Lane Centring
- 360-degree camera with integrated dashcam
- Trailer Stability Assist
Higher trims add premium features such as wireless phone charging, heated seats, V2L power outlets, and in the V9-S, ventilated seating, panoramic sunroof, and driver monitoring system.
Peace of Mind Ownership
Backing its bold move into the market, Foton is offering a 7-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, supported by a growing dealer network across NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, WA, and the ACT.
The Right Fit for Work and Play
Foton Australia’s General Manager, Glen Cooper, described the Tunland as the “goldilocks of ute sizing” – a ute that delivers toughness and versatility without compromising comfort and technology.
The Tunland Hybrid is set to challenge established players with a value-packed proposition for fleets, trades, and families seeking a capable all-rounder.
