Volkswagen Australia has revealed pricing and specifications for the all-new Tiguan range, due here next month, with more technology than ever.
With the added technology comes a price bump, though, with the base 110TSI Life grade now starting at $44,990 (up around $1,000). For the money buyers will get 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless access, power tailgate, Digital Cockpit Pro, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen and 360-degree camera.
Volkswagen has also added more safety features to the new model as standard, now featuring Travel Assist, Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, and Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert.
Stepping up to Elegance trim, the new model scores chrome roof rails and trim, rear privacy glass, LED Plus headlights, LED taillights, leather seats, and front seats that offer a massage function.
Buyers will get a choice of either the base front-wheel drive 110TSI powertrain, or the pepped-up 150TSI R-Line 2.0-litre turbo engine, while the 195TSI R-Line tops the range with its 195kW/400Nm turbo engine – the latter two options scoring 4Motion (all-wheel drive).
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles Head of Product, Arjun Nidigallu, says the all-new Tiguan represents the right product, at the right time, with the right specification.
“The all-new Tiguan is emblematic of Volkswagen’s positioning as an elevated mainstream brand,” Mr Nidigallu said.
“The all-new cabin feels like a mini Touareg, with premium materials and cutting-edge design. The significant uplift in standard features, safety and infotainment technology is delivered at extremely competitive prices.
“We want the Volkswagen Tiguan to be attainable and elevated. Customers can confidently cross-shop this vehicle against mainstream rivals at around $55,000 or under, with flagship versions continuing to deliver a unique Volkswagen offering of style, performance and dynamics.”
