CV Services has been named a finalist in the 2026 Fleet News Group Safe Fleet Award, recognised for its sophisticated use of telematics, driver risk reporting and management accountability to deliver measurable improvements in fleet safety.
The Brisbane-based organisation operates approximately 500 fleet assets supporting construction, infrastructure, asset management, power and renewable energy activities.
The Safe Fleet Award recognises organisations that demonstrate excellence in managing fleet-related risk through leadership, systems, technology, driver engagement and continuous improvement.
During the finalist selection process, the judges highlighted CV Services’ ability to turn large volumes of telematics information into practical safety actions.
Judges described the submission as particularly strong in its use of Geotab data to generate real-world insights, with reporting extending beyond executive-level dashboards into individual business units and driver management.
They were impressed by the use of frequency rates to compare safety performance based on distance travelled, driver risk mapping, speed profiles and a points-based Safe Driving Matrix with clearly defined escalation pathways.
The judges also highlighted the level of management accountability built into the program, with required safety conversations and actions allocated to managers and followed through as part of their performance responsibilities.
“The reporting capability was a clear strength because the data wasn’t simply being collected — it was being used to identify risk, set actions and hold people accountable,” the judging panel noted.
CV Services has also introduced real-time audible speeding alerts and is trialling forward-facing and driver-facing cameras as it continues to expand its safety capability.
The results demonstrate the impact of this approach. Comparing the first and second halves of FY26, police-recorded speeding infringements fell by 50 per cent, total vehicle incidents reduced from 29 to 20, and at-fault incidents fell from 20 to 10. Real-time speeding alerts introduced in October 2025 also contributed to an 82.5 per cent reduction in speeding events.
Fleet News Group Managing Editor Marc Sibbald said reaching the industry voting stage was an important milestone for the inaugural awards program.
“We’re extremely excited to have reached the industry voting stage in the first year of the Fleet News Group Awards,” Sibbald said.
“I was humbled by the number of nominations we received from people and organisations in the fleet community who wanted to be involved and have their work recognised by their peers.
“The quality of the shortlist that progressed to interviews was outstanding, which made selecting the finalists a significant task.
“I’d particularly like to thank the judges for the time and commitment they put into the interviews and assessment process. Their focus was on identifying quality finalists with stories and achievements that deserved to be shared with the broader fleet industry and recognised.”
Sibbald also thanked the sponsors supporting the inaugural Fleet News Group Awards.
“An awards program like this needs organisations that are willing to support the industry and recognise excellence in fleet management. We’re very grateful to all of our sponsors for getting behind the program and helping us celebrate the people and organisations raising the standard of fleet management.”
CV Services will now progress to the industry voting stage, where members of the fleet community will have the opportunity to vote for the organisation they believe should win the Safe Fleet Award.
The winner will be announced at the Fleet News Group Awards Night on 14 October in Sydney.
