Toyota’s all-new HiLux is ready to hit Australian showrooms on 9 December, bringing a fresh design, new technology, and a carefully refined model lineup that reflects how utes are used across the country — from mining and trades to families and fleet operators.
Toyota calls it the “most Aussie HiLux ever,” and that’s more than a slogan. The new range was designed by Toyota Design Australia, tuned and tested locally, and tailored for the conditions and customers that have made HiLux Australia’s top-selling vehicle for seven straight years.
Model Grades and Drivetrains
The new HiLux range is simplified but comprehensive, with five distinct grades — WorkMate, SR, SR5, Rogue, and Rugged X — offered in 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, and a choice of single cab, extra cab, and double cab body styles.
All variants are powered by Toyota’s proven 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine (1GD-FTV), producing 150kW and 500Nm when paired with the six-speed automatic transmission. Six-speed manual options remain for select WorkMate and SR grades, producing 420Nm of torque.
For the first time, Toyota’s V-Active 48-volt mild-hybrid system is available, standard on all automatic double cab SR, SR5, Rogue, and Rugged X grades. The system integrates an 8.5 kW/65 Nm electric motor generator, smoothing engine start-up, assisting acceleration, and improving efficiency — a feature developed to deliver performance benefits without compromising the HiLux’s towing and payload strength.
The robust ladder-frame chassis remains, but Toyota engineers have strengthened the front crossmembers and suspension towers, added electric power steering for improved response, and tuned the suspension specifically for Australian conditions.

The arrival of V-Active 48 V technology gives fleets improved fuel efficiency and smoother drivability — an important step for reducing operating costs and emissions while maintaining reliability and residual value.
Colours
Depending on grade, the 2025 HiLux is available in up to seven exterior finishes:
Glacier White, Frosted White, Stunning Silver, Eclipse Black, Feverish Red, Ash Slate (new), and Sunglow (new).

With a new Australian-designed exterior, a tech-laden interior, and an expanded range of connected and safety features, Toyota has doubled down on what its customers value most — reliability, comfort, and capability that work as hard as the people who drive it.
Whether it’s a single-cab workhorse or a family-friendly dual-cab flagship, the new HiLux delivers on its promise: built for Australia, by Australians, for the world.
