Hyundai has added Apple CarPlay compatibility to its Accent, iMax Series II and iLoad Series II models across their ranges.
Apple’s advanced smartphone support technology offers seamless integration with existing iPhone architecture to provide a vast array of features, including safe access to Apple Maps navigation, Siri command functions – including hands-free phone calls, messaging and dictation – music, calendar entries, apps and more. Commands also can be entered via the vehicles’ touchscreen.
Importantly, for existing iMax Series II and iLoad Series II owners, Apple CarPlay compatibility can now be easily applied via a software upgrade. Taking just 15 minutes, the upgrade is carried out free of charge at Hyundai dealerships.
Likewise Apple CarPlay compatibility is also available to existing owners on all Accent variants built from December 2015 onwards, as well as selected variants built between December 2014 and November 2015. Owners can contact Hyundai Customer Care on 1800 186 306 to enquire about their vehicle’s compatibility.
“The beauty of Apple CarPlay is that it is powered by your iPhone, it is dynamic and connected and therefore, easily updated,” says Senior Manager Product Planning, Andrew Tuitahi.
“When Apple improves these systems, by tweaking performance, adding functionality, or enabling new apps, they will immediately be available in your vehicle.
“Nowadays, we are always connected and we live in that connected ecosystem all day, everyday – when we are walking, on the train, on the bus, at work and at dinner. It hasn’t mattered where we were … except in our cars. Until now, the car has been the one black spot. Availability of new smartphone technologies changes that.
“Apple has created a protocol that allows Hyundai to give drivers safe, efficient in-car access to their iPhone’s ecosystem.”
