Hyundai has unveiled the updated 2026 KONA, expanding its market-leading small SUV range to three trim levels – KONA, KONA Elite, and KONA Premium – while simplifying powertrain choices to a 2.0 MPi petrol or a 1.6 GDi hybrid.
The headline addition is the KONA Elite, designed to provide a well-equipped middle ground between the entry model and the feature-rich Premium. Sitting at the heart of the lineup, the Elite adds key upgrades such as:
- Leather-appointed interior
- Heated, power-adjustable front seats
- 18-inch alloy wheels
- Shift-by-Wire transmission with paddle shifters (2.0 MPi)
- Rain-sensing wipers
- Electrochromic rear-view mirror
- Privacy rear glass
Hyundai Motor Company Australia CEO Don Romano said the expanded range offers more choice and better value:
“KONA is the market-leading small SUV and we are confident the 2026 range will deliver even better value and choice to Australian buyers.”
What’s New Across the Range
- Entry KONA: now features a new 17-inch alloy wheel design, while the N Line pack is no longer offered.
- Elite: introduces a strong balance of comfort and technology, highlighted by leather trim, heated seats, and advanced driver convenience.
- Premium: now comes standard with a wide glass sunroof and adds luxury touches like heated and ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster, BOSE™ premium audio, and remote smart parking.
For buyers wanting a sportier edge, the N Line option pack remains available on Elite and Premium, bringing 19-inch alloys, exclusive Alcantara® interior trim, and dynamic styling enhancements.

Fleet and Novated Lease Appeal
The 2026 KONA continues to deliver strong value for both fleets and salary packaging buyers. The introduction of the Elite grade provides a well-balanced choice for organisations seeking an upgrade in comfort and technology without stepping all the way to Premium.
With the 1.6 GDi hybrid powertrain available across the range, Hyundai also offers a cost-effective way to reduce fuel use and emissions – an increasingly important consideration under the New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES).
