GWM has expanded its Cannon ute range with new single-cab-chassis and dual-cab-chassis options, utilising both its 2.0-litre and larger 2.4-litre diesel engines.
A new entry-level Premium grade has been added, which uses the smaller 2.0-litre powertrain, available in either 4×2 single-cab-chassis or 4×4 dual-cab utility. The 4×2 cab-chassis variant will kick off from $35,490 driveaway, climbing to $39,490 for the dual-cab 4×4 model.
A 4×4 dual-cab-chassis has also been added to the range in Lux trim, featuring the larger 2.4-litre engine, which can be had for $42,290.
The 2.0-litre turbo diesel, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, is a direct carryover from the previous model producing the same 120kW/400Nm. GWM’s larger 2.4-litre engine, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, produces a gruntier 135kW/480Nm.
The new Premium models equipped with the 2.0-litre engine have a braked towing capacity of 3,200kg, while models with the larger 2.4-litre engine get a full 3,500kg braked towing capacity.
The single-cab-chassis variant also features an extended wheelbase of 240mm, improving load distribution and vehicle dynamics. Additionally, a higher payload capacity of 1,150kg ensures suitability for both commercial and fleet operators needing a customisable and capable ute.
“These additions further strengthen the Cannon’s appeal by offering greater flexibility for commercial, fleet, and private buyers seeking a robust and adaptable workhorse, whilst ensuring GWM’s strong value position remains” said Steve Maciver, GWM’s Head of Marketing & Communications.
The new Cannon variants are backed by GWM Care, which includes a seven-year/unlimited km warranty, five years of roadside assistance, and five years of capped-price servicing.
