Chery has unveiled a vehicle that could redefine what an SUV can be. Announced at the 2025 Chery User Summit in Wuhu, China, the world’s first “7-Seat Transformable Multi-SUV” blends the practicality of a family SUV, the utility of a ute, and the spirit of a camper—all in one adaptable package.
One Vehicle, Six Configurations
The new model is built around Chery’s “6=1” concept, meaning one vehicle can transform into six unique layouts. By reconfiguring the seating and detaching the rear hatch, the Multi-SUV morphs to cover almost every family or lifestyle scenario imaginable—Chery says 99% of them.
In Large 7-Seat SUV Mode, the Multi-SUV lives up to its name. Measuring 4.9 metres long with an interior height of 1,284mm, even a six-year-old can stand upright inside. Elderly passengers can step in comfortably without bending—perfect for families who prioritise comfort and accessibility.
Switch to Double-Cab Pickup Mode and the Multi-SUV becomes a capable load carrier. Thanks to a quick-release structure, the rear converts into a 600-litre cargo bed complete with four tie-down points and adjustable dividers. Whether it’s surfboards, camping gear, or trade tools, the setup balances passenger space and payload versatility.
Then there’s Camper Mode, which brings the freedom of the open road. The vehicle supports a range of lifestyle accessories—from awnings and pop-up roof tents to entertainment screens and external power supply—making it a genuine home-on-wheels.
Built with Users, for Users
Chery’s development approach was just as innovative as the vehicle itself. Since early 2024, a 20-member product expert team has spent over 300 days conducting research across international markets, listening to user feedback and shaping the final design around real-world needs.
This “co-creation” model aligns with Chery’s broader vision of collaborative innovation—where the future of mobility isn’t dictated by carmakers alone, but shaped together with the people who drive them.
Coming in 2026
The new Multi-SUV is expected to reach global markets in the third quarter of 2026, though timing for Australia is still to be confirmed. Given local demand for vehicles that can juggle work, family, and adventure, it’s a model that would sit neatly in the sweet spot for Fleet Managers and families alike.
For now, the Multi-SUV stands as a bold statement of Chery’s design direction—fusing modularity, practicality, and imagination into one vehicle.
