This year’s ceremony was held on Wednesday 16 November 2016 at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya in Barcelona. The event was attended by over 700 international car fleet and mobility experts from around the globe.
The Fleet Europe Awards recognise outstanding achievements in various categories of fleet management. This was the 10th edition of the event, organised by Fleet Europe, the media platform specialised in B2B information on international car fleet and mobility management.
The winner of the 2016 Medium Fleet Award is Carlo Bertolini, Security & Services Area Head at Chiesi Farmaceutica. Adrian Porter, Director Fleet Sales and Remarketing at Hyundai Motor Europe presented him with the Award.
The Jury rewarded Carlo for his self-developed 7 Golden Rules strategy for the 1,600-vehicle fleet of Chiesi in Europe. This 7 Golden Rules strategy includes a model selection based on TCO; with a maximum CO² cap of 120 g for the field force; the set-up of 3 generalist and 2 premium brands per country; the competition between at least 2 leasing companies per country; a fixed 48 months contract duration; a driver reclaim programme for end of contract damages and the interdiction of SUVs.
This holistic and pragmatic fleet view will lead to a cost reduction of at least 9%. Carlo has successfully introduced a fit for purpose fleet approach for his company and this on a European level. Next to that Carlo Bertolini embraces innovation with pilots and initiatives in car sharing, mobility, and the introduction of a corporate taxi.
Runner-up in the category International Fleet Manager of the Year – Medium Fleet went to Wojciech Regucki, EMEA Fleet Manager at AbbVie. Knut Krösche, Director of International Fleet at Volkswagen Financial Services presented him with the Award.
The Jury rewarded Wojciech for implementing a centralised, TCO-driven fleet approach based on reference car models with low CO2-emission, and this in over 30 countries. The CO² capping has a maximum of 115 g/km for sales reps to a maximum of 145 g/CO² for General Management.
Key in the fleet management of AbbVie is the respect for long-term relationships with partners and suppliers. Wojciech Regucki has shown a willingness to drive the fleet programme forward with targets and results regarding Green and Safety elements.
