Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has refreshed the Amarok range for Model Year 2026, introducing a simplified model line-up and two new hero editions designed to increase the appeal of its dual-cab ute in Australia.
The headline addition is the Amarok Dark Label V6, a limited-edition variant capped at just 200 units nationally, alongside the Amarok W600, developed in partnership with the Walkinshaw Automotive Group. Together, these models aim to strengthen the Amarok’s reputation as a premium, driver-focused ute in the highly competitive Australian market.
According to Nathan Johnson, Brand Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, the updates are driven by feedback from customers and dealers.
“The MY26 Amarok is focused for the fans: V6 confidence, clearer choice and two standout hero editions in Dark Label and Walkinshaw. This is Amarok at its most desirable,” Johnson said.
Limited-edition Dark Label V6
The new Amarok Dark Label V6 brings a distinctive visual package built around black-accented styling and premium finishes, combined with Volkswagen’s 3.0-litre TDI600 V6 turbo-diesel engine.

Streamlined MY26 Amarok range
For MY26, Volkswagen has simplified the Amarok portfolio to focus on the models most popular with Australian buyers. The updated range places greater emphasis on the V6 powertrain variants and reduces complexity in model grades and options.
The MY26 Amarok line-up will include:
- Amarok Style 2.3 TSI452 4MOTION permanent AWD, 10-speed auto
- Amarok Style 3.0 TDI600 4MOTION permanent AWD, 10-speed auto
- Amarok Style with tray 3.0 TDI600 4MOTION permanent AWD, 10-speed auto
- Amarok PanAmericana 3.0 TDI600 4MOTION permanent AWD, 10-speed auto
- Amarok Aventura 3.0 TDI600 4MOTION permanent AWD, 10-speed auto
- Amarok Dark Label 3.0 TDI600 4MOTION permanent AWD, 10-speed auto
- Amarok W600 3.0 TDI600 4MOTION permanent AWD, 10-speed auto
All models continue to use Volkswagen’s 10-speed automatic transmission and permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, reinforcing Amarok’s capability for both work and lifestyle use.
Petrol Style TSI452 updated
The Amarok Style TSI452 petrol variant replaces the previous Aventura TSI452 and receives several specification upgrades, including:
- Permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive
- Six drive modes for different terrain and driving conditions
- Optional 20-inch Bendigo alloy wheels (RRP $1,290)
The larger wheel option is designed to provide a more muscular stance and a driving feel better aligned with the petrol engine’s performance characteristics.
Walkinshaw-engineered W600
The second hero model for MY26 is the Amarok W600, engineered locally in collaboration with Walkinshaw Automotive Group.
Designed specifically for Australian conditions, the W600 builds on the Amarok’s dynamic capabilities with performance-focused enhancements. Volkswagen says further details on the W600 specification and pricing will be released later in the year.
Focus on customer demand
Volkswagen says the MY26 update reflects insights from Amarok owners and buyers after more than 15 years of the model’s presence in Australia.
The refreshed line-up is designed to be:
- More focused
- More distinctive
- Better aligned with customer demand
With stronger emphasis on V6 powertrains and two new halo models, Volkswagen aims to reinforce Amarok’s position as one of the most premium and driver-focused utes available in the Australian dual-cab market.
For fleet and business buyers, the simplified range and continued availability of the V6 diesel powertrain are expected to maintain Amarok’s appeal as a capable workhorse that also delivers strong on-road driving dynamics.
