Pedders Suspension & Brakes has unveiled a significant upgrade option for the new Toyota LandCruiser Prado 250 Series, launching a range of federally approved GVM+ Upgrade Kits that push the vehicle’s payload capacity far beyond factory limits.
The kits deliver up to an additional 800kg of payload, lifting the Prado’s GVM from standard levels to 3520kg, 3680kg or as high as 3900kg, depending on the base model and selected kit. The upgrade is legal across all Australian states and territories, ensuring compliance with the Australian Design Rules (ADRs).
Rob Davis, Chief Product Officer at Pedders, described the kit as a practical solution for owners and operators who need more from their vehicles.
“This is a game-changer for Prado owners who want more from their vehicle. Whether it’s for towing, touring, or trade, these kits deliver vastly increased payload capacity for the Prado without compromising safety or comfort, with the peace of mind of being legally compliant in all states and territories.”
Implications for fleets and operators
The upgrade is likely to be of interest to fleets carrying heavy equipment, regional councils, utility providers, and contractors, who often load their vehicles close to – or beyond – standard manufacturer limits. For caravan and trailer towing, the additional GVM allowance also improves safety margins and helps keep vehicles compliant when fully loaded with passengers, cargo and accessories.
With the Prado’s strong reputation in both government and commercial fleets, the additional capacity positions it as a more versatile option for operators who previously leaned toward heavier-duty LandCruiser 300 Series or utility platforms.
Components and coverage
The GVM+ kit includes:
- Foam cell struts and shocks
- Heavy-duty coil springs
- Upper control arms
- Shock spacers
- Spring perch supports
Each component has been tested for durability and performance, and the kit is backed by a 2-year / 40,000km nationwide warranty. Support is available through Pedders’ 120-plus outlets across Australia, providing national coverage for fleets.
