Mazda has confirmed pricing and specifications for the all-new third-generation CX-5, one of Australia’s most recognisable SUVs, with the updated model set to arrive in showrooms in mid-2026.
For fleet buyers and novated lease customers, the announcement signals continuity rather than disruption. The new model retains a familiar powertrain formula while adding technology, safety features and refinement that will keep the CX-5 firmly on procurement shortlists for salary packaging programs and user-chooser fleets.
The CX-5 has been a cornerstone of the Mazda lineup for more than a decade, with more than 325,000 units sold in Australia and over five million globally since its launch in 2012.
A familiar formula with incremental improvements
Rather than introducing multiple powertrain choices, Mazda has simplified the lineup with a single engine and drivetrain combination across all grades.
Every variant will be powered by the 2.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 132kW and 242Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Fuel consumption is listed at 7.4L/100km on the combined cycle.
From a fleet management perspective, this consistency makes procurement, maintenance planning and driver training simpler. It also supports predictable whole-of-life costs, which is particularly valuable for novated lease programs where employees expect reliability and low running risk.
Five model grades with a clear value ladder
Mazda will offer the next-generation CX-5 in five equipment grades, each positioned to target a slightly different buyer profile — from entry-level fleet use through to executive salary packaging.
2026 Mazda CX-5 pricing (manufacturer list price)
- Pure – $39,990
- Evolve – $42,990
- Touring – $47,490
- GT SP – $51,990
- Akera – $54,990
All variants feature all-wheel drive as standard, which remains a strong selling point for regional fleets and employees who travel across mixed road conditions.
Technology upgrades designed for modern drivers
The new CX-5 introduces larger screens and connected services across the range, reflecting how driver expectations have shifted in recent years.
Even the entry-level Pure grade includes:
- 12.9-inch infotainment screen
- Dual-zone climate control
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Radar cruise control with stop-and-go
- Front and rear parking sensors
Higher grades add features such as:
- Wireless smartphone connectivity
- Heated seats and steering wheel
- Bose premium audio system
- 360-degree camera system
- Panoramic sunroof (Akera)
These upgrades are less about luxury and more about driver acceptance — an increasingly important factor for organisations managing retention, safety and productivity.
Safety and connected services remain a priority
Safety technology continues to be a core strength of the CX-5 range.
Standard systems across all grades include:
- Smart City Brake Support
- Lane-keep assist
- Blind spot monitoring
- Adaptive cruise control
Mazda Connected Services will also be fitted across the lineup, allowing remote vehicle monitoring and management functions through the MyMazda app, including vehicle location, status alerts and emergency assistance features.
For fleet operators, these connected capabilities are increasingly aligned with broader risk management and duty-of-care responsibilities.
What this means for fleet and novated lease buyers
The new CX-5 reinforces a proven formula. It offers continuity that reduces procurement risk, supports driver satisfaction, protects resale value and remains a safe, dependable choice for mixed-use fleets and novated lease programs
