EXTERIOR
At first glance, the all-new Subaru Crosstrek’s exterior design aims to inspire a more active soul and embody functionality, making the viewer want to head out on the road in the spur of the moment and try new things.
Full of fun and personality, athletic and dynamic styling is featured which conveys reliability as a crossover small SUV.
The identity of Crosstrek’s design starts with a three-dimensional face with a large hexagonal grille, and continues with a bulging fender, window and protector, forward stance that fosters an image of agile driving and narrowed, light cabin.
Externally, the all-new Subaru Crosstrek has sharp form lines that evoke the feeling of agile movement, and the bulging fender emphasises the characteristics of lively driving even on more difficult terrain. More pronounced cladding surrounding the wheel arches contribute to a bolder and more athletic look.
Various textures such as dimpled satin, diamond and sharkskin surfaces have been adopted for each section of the car to assist with air flow. In addition to functionality, this also contributes towards visually expressing the vehicle’s robustness.
A textured mountain motif has been incorporated into the rear door side sill plates and the lower trim tailgate to not only provide grip, but to resemble the all-new Subaru Crosstrek’s active, adventure-ready spirit.
LED headlamps have been adopted in all models, which improves visibility at night, contributes to reducing power consumption.
At the rear, LED rear combination lamps featuring a modern, sharp C-shaped signature with a three-dimensional figure are introduced.
Depending on the variant, newly designed 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels are fitted.
The all-new Subaru Crosstrek gains four new exterior hues, expanding the paint options to ten. New to the colour range are Sun Blaze Pearl, Oasis Blue, Sapphire Blue Pearl and Offshore Blue Metallic.
INTERIOR
The latest infotainment system, which features a large high-definition 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen, has been included in the new generation Crosstrek. The sophisticated system, with smooth operation, centralises elements such as entertainment, vehicle information and control switches within the centre display.
In a first for Subaru, a 360-degree panoramic view has also been added to AWD 2.0R, AWD 2.0S and AWD Hybrid S variants to improve camera and monitor performance. A 3D view/top view that combine images from all four cameras display on the 11.6-inch touchscreen a 360-degree panoramic view around the vehicle. This improves visibility around the vehicles and contributes to the prevention of accidents.
Additionally, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM connectivity and wireless Qi charging is now possible, enabling more convenience for occupants.
Easy to use Type-A and widely used Type-C USB ports are made available to allow wired charging of smart devices if preferred.
Sound is made available via a six-speaker system or Harmon Kardon® 10-speaker premium audio system exclusively for the AWD 2.0S and AWD Hybrid S.
Subaru’s commitment to safety continues with the all-new Subaru Crosstrek range, comprising robust safety systems across Subaru’s four key safety pillars – Primary, Active, Preventative and Protective.
Sitting under the Preventative Safety pillar, all Subaru Crosstrek variants comprise the new generation Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist system. This gains the latest stereo camera system with significantly improved image recognition, and the addition of a new Wide- angle Monocular Camera which can help recognise two-wheeled vehicles and pedestrians in the area. While driving, audio and visual alerts notify the driver if it’s determined that there is a high probability of a collision with a two-wheelvehicle or pedestrian. If no action is taken to prevent the collision, braking assistance linked to the EyeSight® system can be performed to avoid or reduce severity of the collision.
Added, as standard, for the first time in Subaru’s small SUV is the cutting-edge Driver Monitoring System§ which watches over the safety of the driver, in addition to providing convenience features. This monitors the driver’s seat area for display of fatigued alertness, distraction, or eyes off the road. If any of these signs are identified, a warning is displayed on the Multi-Information Display (MID) and infotainment screen.
Moreover, Protective Safety is further enhanced by the inclusion of 9 SRS# airbags including, for the first time, the adoption of a new far side airbag, which focuses on protecting occupants, in the event of an accident, on the non-collision side colliding with interior objects and collisions between adjacent occupants.
To assist with improving vehicle ergonomics and driver and occupant comfort, Subaru worked in collaboration with a medical school to study the structure and movement of the human body.
Based on the results of this study, the seats were redesigned to support the pelvis through structures that restrain the sacrum and reduce transmission of shaking to the head.
A new mounting structure between the seat and the chassis has also been adopted to reduce seat swaying and improve ride quality. For the all-new Subaru Crosstrek, the seat rail has been mounted directly to the chassis. Direct mounting has increased the rigidity of the mounting parts and improved vibration dampening, resulting in approximately 44 per cent reduction in head swaying (passenger seat) compared to the previous generation Subaru XV.
The Crosstrek AWD 2.0L and AWD Hybrid L feature a new tricot fabric with stylish tetra embossing Taking a step up the range, the Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0R features premium cloth seat trim, and the AWD 2.0S and AWD Hybrid S feature stylish leather accented seats.
PERFORMANCE
A proven formula for decades, Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical AWD firmly plants the vehicle to the road providing an engaging and balanced drive on a variety of road conditions. For the all-new Subaru Crosstrek, the Symmetrical AWD system is mounted to a refined Subaru Global Platform which delivers a further ten per cent increase in torsional rigidity.
Two powertrains are available across the all-new Subaru Crosstrek range. An enhanced 2.0-litre direct injection Boxer engine, and an e-Boxer with electric motor assistance, delivering additional battery-based power to provide responsive and linear acceleration.
An upgraded Lineartronic® transmission features across the petrol range, with petrol variants comprising 8-speed paddle shift manual mode. Hybrid variants will feature a 7- speed manual mode.
X-Mode is included as standard across the range, with Crosstrek AWD 2.0R, AWD 2.0S and Hybrid S compromising two-mode X-Mode.
