Toyota is set to make its popular RAV4 medium SUV an even more enticing prospect with an array of new comfort, styling and technology upgrades across the range1.
The changes will see every RAV4 petrol and hybrid variant gain new improvements, with production commencing in December 2021.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the update would further boost the appeal of the successful RAV4.
“The RAV4’s mix of style and practicality, and in particular, its hybrid powertrain, really resonates with buyers and these upgrades will add to that appeal,” Mr Hanley said.
“While these updates won’t arrive until early next year, Toyota is committed to keeping its customers aware of upcoming improvements and we encourage our customers to speak with their preferred Toyota Dealer about the upgrade on any orders placed,” he said.
On the outside, all variants gain upgraded LED foglights with a new design headlight for hybrid versions to enhance nighttime vision.
All petrol variants gain a stop start system while further aesthetic appeal comes from new design alloy wheels on most variants.
RAV4 Cruiser models also deliver greater comfort with the addition of passenger eight-way adjustable power seats, three-stage driver and front passenger seat ventilation and a digital rearview mirror as well as the introduction of illuminated door switches on GXL, Cruiser and Edge grades.
The range-topping adventure-focused RAV4 Edge benefits from a safety upgrade with the addition of parking support brake to the current rear cross-traffic alert system2.
Pricing adjustments for the upgraded model will be confirmed closer to introduction.
RAV4 is offered with a choice of two petrol engines – a 152kW 2.5-litre four-cylinder mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission for the AWD Edge, or 127kW 2.0-litre for 2WD GX, GXL and Cruiser versions that drives through a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Hybrid versions use a powerful and economical 160kW 2.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain in 2WD guise with a slight boost to 163kW in AWD variants, both available across GX, GXL and Cruiser grades.
