Each year at the opening session of the IPWEA Fleet Conference, the winner of the annual Fleet Achievement Award is announced. In 2o22 there were two winners!
The IPWEA Fleet Achievement Award is awarded to the highest ranked individual who completes the course in the preceding year. The winners are:
- Erin Mossley, Procurement Lead at City of Gold Coast
- Rachel Brown-Hughey, Fleet Administration Officer at Department of Premier and Cabinet (NSW)
In 2020 the IPWEA Fleet Management Certificate was updated and it transitioned to online delivery which provided a more interactive and engaging format. Online delivery also allows the course to be delivered in three months with a higher completion rate.
During 2021 there were three intakes of students (February, June and September) for the course that covers six key areas of fleet management competency. The units are:
- Unit 1 – Utilisation
- Unit 2 – Financial Management
- Unit 3 – Procurement
- Unit 4 – Maintenance Management
- Unit 5 – Service Level Agreements
- Unit 6 – Regulatory Requirements
On completion of the course each successful participant receives a digital certificate that can be displayed on LinkedIn to promote the growing interest in fleet management as a profession.
Stephen Haughey, Consultant IPWEA Fleet, administers the IPWEA Fleet Management Certificate and works with the students to help them complete the course work and assessments over three months. He believes the course provides a great foundation for a career in fleet management.
“It’s encouraging it is to see participants who have undertaken the IPWEA Fleet Management Certificate go on to forge a successful career in fleet management and reconnect with them each year at the IPWEA Fleet Conference,” says Haughey.
The course has also become a key component of the learning and development program within the fleet team at large QLD council because it provides every team member with a foundation in fleet management which creates a pathway to further learning and career opportunities including the IPWEA Professional Certificate in Asset Management and Planning.
Interest in the course is also coming from four corners of the globe with the 2021 alumni including students from Canada, Finland, Vanuatu, Papa New Guinea and New Zealand.
