Grasshopper Environmental, a waste management company that operates a large fleet of purpose-built trucks providing services to nation building projects, has announced that 100% of its drivers and operational staff have received their first dose of a COVID vaccination.
From the start of the pandemic, Grasshopper has implemented processes and controls across its fleet operations to ensure that the essential waste management services they provide to construction, infrastructure and commercial businesses are performed in the safest way possible which included encouraging their employees to get vaccinated.
Gavin Stewart, Regional Manager at Grasshopper Environmental, told Fleet Auto News, “We are pleased to achieve 100% vaccination status for drivers. Drivers are on the road and servicing customer sites so ensuring their safety was paramount. We are proud of a team that has rolled up their sleeves to join the fight against COVID-19’ Gavin said ‘Grasshopper’s vaccination program included coordination with teams and taking advantage of accelerated industry-specific vaccination programs to reach 100% vaccination.”
Going above the standard to keep everyone COVID-safe
100% covid vaccination status
All Grasshopper Environmental drivers of fleet vehicles and employees have rolled up their sleeves to join Australia’s fight against COVID-19. As of today, 100% of Grasshopper Drivers and Operations staff have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination as a minimum.
Minimising the spread
Grasshopper has implemented strict hygiene practices as well as work at home arrangements for office staff and working bubbles for drivers to prevent transmission and to practice effective social distancing. Key measures that we have put in place include requiring our employees to stay home if they feel sick, daily temperaturechecks, daily QR code check ins, rolling COVID-19 tests for drivers, regular and repeated cleaning, and hygiene protocols, ensuring social distancing is in place including segregating work teams and staggering driver shifts to minimise interaction.
Effective PPE
All fleet drivers and operations staff are equipped with adequate PPE including face masks and gloves for personal protection and to protect the community. Grasshopper goes above and beyond the minimum requirements by implementing daily deep cleaning and disinfectant fogging of all vehicles.
Contactless service
Grasshopper has switched to a contactless service replacing signatures with SMS for service confirmations.
Rapid Track and trace
In the event that a Grasshopper employee does test positive for COVID-19, their COVID-19 Response Plan will allow them to effectively manage the situation. By working closely with the relevant health authorities, Grasshopper can isolate the affected employee, conduct contact tracing thoroughly and quickly and notify all customers within approximately one hour from a positive result.
