The appeal of Kia’s Seltos has been strengthened through its exterior and interior design enhancements, competitive features, as well as improved driving performance through the application of a new generation powertrain.
Since its launch in 2019, Seltos has cemented itself as a popular choice in the already abundant small SUV market and when you have something that works, you don’t want to change it too much.
“With its broad appeal to singles, couples and families, the Seltos has been winning small SUV car buyers over since it was first launched in 2019,” said Kia’s Chief Operating Officer, Damien Meredith.
“The new Kia Seltos combines an already solid offering with a new dynamic design and an impressive list of added features, and we are confident its popularity will not only continue but grow.”
Tailored to suit a wide range of lifestyles, the new Kia Seltos is available in four familiar trims (S, Sport, Sport+ and GT-Line) across two powertrains.
The existing Atkinson cycle 2.0 MPI engine with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) carries over and is available across all trims.
An updated Smartstream 1.6 T-GDI engine is now available exclusively on Sport+ and GT-Line trims with AWD. The 1.6T Smartstream engine provides an increase in power of over 12%, maintains torque and improves fuel economy. A new camshaft and valve control system, and integrated thermal management contribute to incremental efficiency improvements. Additionally, the 7-speed DCT has been replaced by Kia’s 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission (8AT) for a more efficient drive.
The front exterior design of new Seltos has been refreshed with a new front bumper and prominent skid plate garnish. The newly designed signature lighting (GT-Line only) provides a refreshed look while the bold and large grille design emphasises grandeur and wideness. The fog lights are positioned vertically in harmony (GT-line only) with the Daytime Running Lights creating a unique and distinct image. Side mirror integrated turn signals are now standard across the range.
From the side, the GT-Line can be distinguished from the rest of the range by its satin sliver window trim and C-Pillar garnish which visually separates the roof from the body of the vehicle. Seltos S trim now features a new 16” alloy wheel design (previously steel) with the rest of the range featuring newly designed machine finished alloy wheels.
The rear design has also been tweaked to appear more athletic with the new tail lights (LED on GT-Line) complimenting the new front design. The tail lights are now connected via reflector trim on S, Sport and Sport+ variants. Whilst in GT-line, an LED connecting light joins the tails lamps for an integrated design, with good continuity to the front mask.
Interior technology has also been updated, with analogue gauges being replaced in favour of digital displays across the range. Seltos S features a compact digital driver display, while Sport, Sport+ and GT-Line trims gain a dual 10.25” display similar to the award-winning all-new Sportage and EV6, along with a newly designed Climate Control Panel.
Safety takes priority in new Seltos, with standard safety features including Front & Rear Parking Sensors, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Lane Following Assist (LFA), Rear-Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA) and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA).
Introduced as standard across the range are Rear Air Vents and USB-C Charging for added comfort and convenience for rear seat passengers. GT-Line trim features luxuries including Heated and Ventilated Front Seats, Heated Steering Wheel, Tilt and Sliding Sunroof (not available on two-tone paint), Wireless Device Charging (Qi), 8 Speaker Bose Premium Sound System, Sound Mood Interior Lighting, and a Head-Up Display.
New to GT-Line trim are Power Driver’s Seat with Two Position Memory (IMS), Smart Power Tailgate and a D-Cut Steering Wheel.
Following the introduction of Kia Connect to the Australian market in all-new Niro, new Seltos is the second model in the range to feature Kia’s connected car service in Sport trim and above. Complimentary for 7 years, Kia Connect is industry leading, providing benefits in safety, security, convenience, connectivity, and LIVE services by using telematics systems to transfer real time data, such as weather and traffic information.
An advanced Voice Car Control system featuring Natural Voice Recognition technology allows occupants to control key vehicle systems such as temperature and audio settings with ease.
The Kia Connect smartphone app allows users to connect with their vehicle remotely. Drivers can sync calendars, plan journeys with online navigation and access onboard features including live traffic alerts and real-time weather forecasts. Valet Mode protects the owner’s personal information when being driven by a third party, by disabling control. Vehicle Information created during Valet mode can be viewed from the Kia Connect App.
