Mobility and traffic technology company Intelematics has announced a partnership which will see its predictive battery maintenance technology distributed across the United States.
Following a two-year trial, Intelematics has signed a formal distribution partnership with US-based telematics firm Voyomotive. Voyomotive telematics will support Intelematics FailSafe technology – a vehicle battery predictive maintenance service that identifies lead-acid batteries reaching end of life. The technology, which is patented in the US, is aimed at vehicle manufacturers, roadside assistance providers and fleet and lease operators.
FailSafe uses AI combined with machine learning to predict imminent vehicle breakdowns four-to-six weeks in advance. It does this by identifying patterns in battery performance, and training data algorithms to identify issues more accurately – limiting false alerts. Voyomotive trialled FailSafe in vehicles across the United States over a two-year period.
Intelematics General Manager Rob Finney, said: “For fleet or leasing companies, vehicle downtime is not only inconvenient but also disruptive to business operations, leading to financial losses. By enabling companies to schedule replacement installations pre-emptively, and avoid unexpected breakdowns, FailSafe streamlines business processes and improves customer service.
“Our partnership with Voyomotive will see FailSafe making its way into thousands of vehicles in the United States. We are very proud to be taking an Australian innovation to the world and look forward to seeing the positive impact it has in addressing the main causes of vehicle breakdown in this market,” adds Finney.
FailSafe will be integrated into Voyomotive’s advanced VOYO telematics platform, VOYOLink, which is used to deliver remote diagnostic alerts directly to shops and integrates with popular brands of shop IT systems.
VOYO.io CEO Peter Yorke, said: “FailSafe is a landmark example of how advanced vehicle data technology, used as part of the VOYO platform, can help minimise vehicle downtime and improve operational efficiency.
“We look forward to partnering with Intelematics to bring this technology to market and helping US-based fleet and consumers realise the benefits of taking a predictive approach to vehicle maintenance,” adds Yorke.
The FailSafe algorithm was developed with global data provided from two-million vehicle trips and thousands of battery-related service calls. FailSafe is easily integrated via an API and available to vehicles connected to the VOYO OBDII plug and play controllers.
