In its biggest-ever result, i30 claimed 5521 sales. It’s the first time since 1998 that a Hyundai has topped the Australian monthly sales chart.
In calendar year-to-date terms, at 15,801 sales, the i30 hatch maintains its podium position behind Toyota Corolla (21,750) and Mazda3 (20,427) hatches and sedans. Combined with sales of 4104 units year-to-date of the Elantra sedan, a total of 19,905 units for these two mechanically similar cars makes for an extremely strong presence in the small car segment.
“We are very proud of our all-time record,” said Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Officer, Mr Charlie Kim. “It is an example of fantastic team work between committed and talented Hyundai dealers and all the staff working for Hyundai in Australia. It is a pleasure to think of all the new customers who will now be enjoying the benefits of joining the Hyundai family.”
The multiple award-winning i30’s combination of value, quality and its membership in Hyundai’s industry-leading iCare programme – including a five-year warranty – means that 5521 new i30 owners will be happy on Australian roads.
The i30’s phenomenal sales month wasn’t Hyundai’s only major success story for June.
Strong results across the range helped Hyundai claim fourth place overall in the Australian new vehicle market. Hyundai finished June with an 8.7 percent share of the market.
Continuing impressive sales – including a segment-topping 1723 result for June – helped cement the ix35’s robust position in Australia’s hotly-contested SUV segment. Year-to-date across all SUV classes, ix35 (9343) is running second behind Mazda’s CX-5 (12,489) and ahead of Toyota’s RAV4 (9160).
The Accent also enjoyed a record result in the Light Car class in June, its 1160 sales an all-time record. Combined with 396 i20 sales, Hyundai finished second the segment.
Other standout sales results to the end of June have given Hyundai strong second-place year-to-date honours in both the Sports and Light Commercial Vans/CC 2.5-3.5 Tonne segments. Hyundai Veloster’s impressive 1388 sales to the end of June mean it is running second in the Sports Car segment.
Hyundai’s 2346 iLoad sales year-to-date continue to stack up well, helping it to second place in the Vans/CC 2.5-3.5t segment. And Hyundai’s iMax continues to rate highly in the People-Mover Segment, its 918 year-to-date sales making it third-in-class.
