Hyundai Australia has announced a limited-run i20 N Shadow Edition, marking the final chapter for the current-generation pocket rocket.
Just 100 examples will be offered exclusively in Australia, with each car individually numbered and available in Atlas White or Phantom Black. Pricing starts from $41,500 before on-road costs for Atlas White, rising to $42,095 for Phantom Black.
The i20 N Shadow Edition retains the familiar mechanical package that has earned the model a strong following since its arrival: a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, six-speed manual gearbox and a compact, driver-focused chassis.
What separates the farewell edition is a suite of cosmetic and cabin upgrades intended to underline its collectable appeal. The most distinctive change is a set of 18-inch matte bronze flow-forged alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres, matched by black wheel nuts and matte bronze lower-door decals.
Inside, Hyundai has fitted an Alcantara-wrapped N steering wheel with Performance Blue stitching and top marker, along with an Alcantara gear shifter. The Shadow Edition also receives tailored rubber floor mats featuring a Pirelli P Zero tread pattern and a numbered plaque identifying each vehicle.
Hyundai Motor Company Australia chief operating officer Gavin Donaldson said the i20 N had connected with buyers looking for an accessible and engaging performance car.
“The i20 N has struck a chord with Australian customers by delivering an engaging and accessible performance car experience that’s equally at home on the road and racetrack,” Donaldson said.
“With just 100 examples available, the Shadow Edition provides a fitting farewell.”
The limited-run i20 N arrives as the industry’s attention increasingly shifts towards electrification, but its departure is a reminder that there remains a committed audience for lightweight, manual and driver-centred performance cars.
For enthusiasts who have been considering an i20 N, the Shadow Edition represents the final opportunity to secure a new example of Hyundai’s current-generation hot hatch.
