Geotab has unveiled its latest innovation in connected vehicle technology – the GO Focus Plus AI dash cam – aimed at reducing risky driving behaviours and supporting fleet managers with smarter safety tools.
The dual-facing camera is designed to provide proactive, in-cab voice coaching that helps drivers self-correct in real time. In a recent pilot program, the system reduced tailgating incidents by 90% and mobile phone use by 95%, turning each alert into an opportunity for driver learning and accident prevention.
Addressing Industry Pressures
The launch comes as Australia records rising road fatalities. The Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics reported 1,329 road deaths from June 2024 to June 2025 – a 3.3% increase from the previous year.
Commercial drivers are also under pressure, with a recent Geotab survey finding that 34% had considered leaving the profession in the past year. Long hours, unpredictable conditions, stress, and sometimes unfair blame for incidents all contribute to industry challenges.
