How good is the Genesis GV80 SUV? Fleet Auto News says as good as other luxury brands and worth considering when looking at large SUVs.
FAN was at the launch of the new SUV in the Genesis range in 2020 and we were impressed with the level of comfort, luxury and the road feel of each model. As a fleet and novated lease focused publication, we don’t get invited to many luxury vehicle launches. So when we are making our comparisons to the typical fleet model, everything is better.
To help counter the bias we have towards ‘poverty pack’ fleet vehicles, we took the GV80 for an extended test drive (pre-COVID lockdown) so the leather smell and luxurious surrounds would become our new base point for comparison.
The first thing we realised is, not all leather is the same. There is leather trim, leather highlights and even faux leather. Even when it’s all leather, the leather you get in a car above $80k is better. It’s softer with fancy stitching and better colours. And the Genesis GV80 has the ‘good’ leather.
Safety technology is now standard in most based model fleet cars in 2021. It’s so rare that we drive a car without adaptive cruise control or AEB that when we do, we spend the first 10 minutes learning how to drive again (you almost need a different licence category).
Genesis has found a way to take the safety features that are now standard in a 5 star ANCAP rated vehicle and make them more intuitive, funky and user friendly.
It’s hard to explain in words so you should watch the video to see what we mean.
