It has been reported by the local news authorities that Western Power fleet coordinator, Rodney Pearson, has been charged with corruption in relation to his handling of tender negotiations during a period from 2018 to 2019.
The ABC News website reported, ‘Mr Pearson allegedly used his position as a fleet coordinator at Western Power “to influence the tender/contract processes relating to his area of responsibility” and that he “benefited financially” from his alleged actions, according to police.’
This is a reminder to the fleet industry that our roles are not simple and there are many temptations when dealing with supplier agreements worth millions of dollars.
According to the report, Western Power raised the issue with WA Police after an internal investigation due to serious concerns with the tender processed related to fleet supplier relationships.
Mr Pearson was arrested and charged. He was released on bail and due to return to court in March 2020. The report also says he was recently terminated from his role at Western Power.
