The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV plug-in hybrid SUV has been named The West Australian’s 2017 Green Car of the Year.
The judges awarded the best overall score in its category and commended PHEV for its electric driving range, potential to use no petrol during the weekly commute and upmarket interior feel.
Car of the Year judge Sam Jeremic from The West Australian said while we can expect a lot more green cars to arrive in Australia, there aren’t too many around which can offer zero emissions, are within the budget of everyday motorists and are big enough to handle family hauling duties. But the PHEV is the current exception.
“And there’s really no compromise for it being a plug-in electric hybrid.”
Mitsubishi Motors Australia CEO, John Signoriello said this award underlines Outlander PHEV’s wide ranging appeal due to its ground-breaking hybrid drive system and user-friendly attributes of an SUV.
“Outlander PHEV is sophisticated, future technology – available today.”
“We are very pleased that the Outlander PHEV has been recognised as the best value, green vehicle package for SUV buyers.
