Mitsubishi Motors Australia has confirmed that the 2025 model year Mitsubishi Outlander has retained its maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating, meeting the latest and most stringent testing protocols.
The rating applies to all ZM Outlander internal combustion models built from April 2025 and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models built from July 2025 for both the Australian and New Zealand markets.
Bruce Hampel, Product Strategy and Public Relations General Manager at Mitsubishi Motors Australia, said the result reflects the company’s focus on safety.
“Maintaining Outlander’s five-star ANCAP safety rating is a testament to MMAL’s unwavering commitment to safety,” Hampel said. “Since its 2021 introduction, the Outlander range has proved popular in the Australian market, thanks to a commitment to continuous improvement. Thanks to an expansive range of updates, the current model year Outlander is safer than ever, and this goes beyond what the specification sheet says.”
The 2025 Outlander has received an Australian-developed steering and suspension tune, designed to reflect local driving conditions, as well as a series of safety updates:
- Revised ADAS system including rear automatic emergency braking, expanded lane support functions, and new vulnerable road user scenarios such as turning and motorcycle detection.
- Direct driver monitoring system.
- Improvements to restraints, centre airbag performance and whiplash protection.
- Enhanced speed limit information system with implicit speed limit detection.
